Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

The sad part is I thought the third period was their best period. At least they had some jump and the passing was better than the first two. Another game where the Hawks had trouble with the forecheck.

They came out strong in the third, and then DA took that horrible holding call and adios momentum.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

It's been a long, long time where I've seen a Lowell team that has shown to be this disorganized on the ice at all levels as they were last night. I think we were lucky this game wasn't 6-0 or 7-0. The communication is non-existent and I have to question whom are the leaders both on and off the ice not named Doug Carr. They were out-gunned, out-hustled, and out-matched for most of that game. This team is so darn slow in both speed and decision-making it isn't even funny. I can't count how many times defensive-zone indecision or taking too long to pull the trigger on the offense allowed UNH defense or DeSmith to get back into the play. The most disappointing part is I actually believe the frustration caused this team quit at the end of the game on the PK. UNH was simply toying with them on the power play and the fact that they scored was a pure embarrassment. Carr and the rest of the faithful wasn't too pleased.

It's obvious that some of the new faces need more time and are not ready to complete at the top level of D-I competition. I don't know what Bazin has to right the ship but just making the playoffs is going to be challenging enough if we don't see some scoring soon. Going back to mid-February, they haven't played well at all; Hockey East is a different league and I wonder if Bazin's system has been figured out.

It's still a few day away, but thanks Les. Yes, a night off would be nice. This team is very frustrating to watch right now.

Pretty much every penalty was dumb. Sheesh. It is giving me flash backs to when Lil played hockey and the kids tried to skate up rather than pass, pass into someone's feet and do something stupid in front of the ref to get a penalty. On the positive side- to watch that hockey I had to get up at 6AM both weekend days, pay through the nose for the priviledge and sit through hours of practice. Now I watch a few bad hours, go home and have a chocolate milk. (trying to see the positive in it all :( )

Nothing like a good paddling... starting to regret I didn't buy the vid feed for the game.
Multiple teams use CBS Sports so buying a 1 month subscription just may get you multiple games. Tonight was the second game I got on mine.

Good point... nice to get the goal-splosion going... they were saying on the radio that last year's seniors were rather displeased with how the UNH game went... message received, apparently.

8-2 now. Another PP goal for UMass. We continue taking way too many penalties.
Agree Monty. That's the only complaint I had about tonight's game. Both Amherst goals were scored on a 5 on 3 advantage.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

From the people who went, in general how did the team look? Obviously they scored a lot of goals tonight, but were they skating like they did last year? Were they physical? Were they winning the race to loose pucks?
