Just got back in and after looking at numerous articles, video highlights, pictures, and posts, it's still unbelievable and surreal. As the clock ran down and the players stormed the ice, there were alumni and long-time fans who literally had tears in their eyes. What an amazing night. And there's something poetic about UML beating BU 1-0, a reversal of the 2009 championship game that still pains many UML fans.
I too thought we'd be swarmed by BU fans and maybe it was just because Lowell fans clearly outnumbered them by a large margin that it really didn't matter. And the UML fans were loud and made their presence known. The balcony pretty much from Section 327 all the way down past the band and into Section 306 was solid UML with some scatterings of other fans. And you could see large groupings of UML fans in other parts of the balcony and down in the loge sections opposite the main UML loge areas. It was like the entire seating capacity of the Tsongas made their way to the Garden and this is no exaggeration.
This is all still soaking in and the ride isn't over yet. Later today we'll learn where we get placed for the NCAAs with many hoping for Manchester. If UML was an underdog last year with Barry Melrose pretty much saying we didn't belong there, UML cannot be anything less than one of the favorites to win the title this year. This is an amazing concept for a team that just two seasons ago one a mere 5 games.
Don't know if I'll ever get to sleep tonight, just too pumped up!
