UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Nancy Marrapese-Burrell pens an article about Lowell and Coach Bazin in today's Globe.

Loved hearing this from Riley:
“I’ve been getting text messages and phone calls from alumni this past week and weekend. At the same time, they are not exactly satisfied with the regular season. They want us to keep going further and that’s how we feel as well.’’

Also, I was curious so ...

The player everyone loves to hate ... hasn't been kind to Lowell in his career.

Freshman year: 0-1-1, 5 GP, 12 PIM (only point was in a playoff game)
Soph: 3-3-6, 3 GP, 2 PIM
Jr: 3-0-3, 3 GP
Sr: 2-1-3, 2 GP

8-5-13 in 13 games played. With such a young team around him, obviously he's the highest scorer against Lowell.

Hoping for 4:30 myself.

Feels weird this morning ... I'm kinda laid back this morning, completely the opposite of my nerves last Friday. Not sure if it's because it's only Game 1 of the playoffs, or because I remember that feeling of disappointment last year.

I agree. It might be just because its Game 1. Or maybe its a high of being the top seed. I'm not feeling all stressed out today like last week. Maybe its because I think Providence is a worse threat than Maine.

Its Thursday, we're at home, we've hit our mark, currently top of the hill, feel like winners.... get down 1-0 and all the nervous nervousness will come back.

In comparison, go up 1-0 and we'll feel pretty good about ourselves. Especially if its a solid win.

Agree, Tonight's game is huge and I feel the Hawks need to win it. If Lowell plays their game and brings the intensity they should be fine, anything less and it could get interesting. Maine is playing some pretty good hockey and the Hawks can't afford to let them hang around where a puck bounce could decide a game/series.

At this point in the year, they MUST play their game, regardless of opponent. Will they win them all, not likely, but this time of the year if you hold anything back you must assume it will cost you.

I think bob said it well in the weekend preview that we play very similar styles, but I feel the difference comes down to speed and heart which is something I think UML has proved in multiple situations..... In the words of Bruce buffer "it's TIME!"

The team has gotta be fired up for this weekend. Probably bouncing off the walls in their dorms waiting for 7pm.

Speaking of fired up, wonder if this is on the white board to get the boys fired up?

“It doesn’t matter who we play in the first round.” said Ouellette “We are going to go out there and nothing is going to stop us from winning the series. If we play like we did (last) weekend, we will go to the Garden.”

There aren't many mulligans this time of the year...

There aren't... I'm not going to deny reality. 1 of 8 will win the hockey east, 1 of 16 will win the NCAA... I sure do hope we get at least one of those two.

I'll be over in 106 tonight! Row 13. Trying to get to beer works before 5. See you all there!

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Good breakdown. What are your keys to the game?

Keep your stick on the ice. Don't give up goals. Score goals.

Thank you for caring.

edit: this reminds me that some people exist to tear others down

Sounds good. I almost got stuck across the ice but I'm glad that I'll be close to familiar faces.
Now, seeing as its been a few years, where is everyone parking these days?
Street parking near the LBW, since that's where a few of us go pre- and post-game.
