Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II
Just got home, and can't freakin' stop smiling... the Chiefs hold the HE regular season title.
He was actually at the game tonight with one of his kids. And after Lowell won, he tweeted out a congrats to the team and fans. Juniors and seniors were his players.
And some of the sophomores were his recruits as well. Blaise deserves a pat on the back for this, many of the players on the ice were guys that bought into the program because of him.
Ok, I was there tonight but I really don't understand what penalty SHOULDN'T have been called? The punch to the PC players face in view of a ref? I would say all the penalties that were called tonight were LEGIT penalties both ways. Was it too many? Yes but by the rule book they are penalties.
The punch should have been called. Of course, that was a retaliation, and the first part was missed. There were definitely a couple of really questionable calls.
Anyway, that's really irrelevant at this point.
Couple of things I take away from this:
*Love the response from the lackluster performance the previous night.
*Solid defense by the Hawks. Not too many easy shots for PC, Lowell essentially did to PC what PC had done to them.
*32 shots on goal for PC, while having 10 power plays. That tells you how well that defense did.
*The penalty kill was phenomenal tonight.
*Good pressure (at times) by Lowell, you got the feeling that PC didn't know what to do at times defensively, skating aimlessly in their own zone.
So very **** proud of all the Lowell fans that made the trip down. Easily over 200 Lowell fans (but not all in the same area), and there were a couple of points where because of how spread out we were ... when the UML chant started up, it went around the stadium. Was fantastic to hear the couple of Lowell chants that went around.
And most importantly, so proud of the players and the staff. It took them a bit to get their legs this year, but 18-3-1 over the last 22, just a complete jump in by the players to do what was needed to be done.
I have no idea where this season will go from now on, but at this point, I'm so GD proud of my alma mater. Well done Lowell ... well done.
