UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

I feel everyone's pain when it comes to the QF series. I work second shift, Friday and Saturday off. So I have to miss Thursday's game and Sundays if it goes to three. Should be good for the Garden if the team makes it, though.

Please excuse the 13/14 season question ... but does anyone know if Denver/CC are coming east for return games next season? I'm guessing no because they both played Air Force on the "off night" whereas a normal "round trip" series would've included another Hockey East team on their off night.

IIRC, UNH went out too... They will reciprocate both simultaneously (same weekend, likely)... I'll leave ScottK to give the years on that

They are coming east, but I can't remember when. I was trying to find the off-season thread, but can't find it for some reason.

One thing though on the first thread for this season ... I did find my predictions for this season ... pre-season I had expected 35 points. I hope I'm short by 1. ;)
HE
BC - 1-2
BU - 1-1-1
Maine - 2-1
UMass - 2-0-1
Mack - 2-1
UNH - 2-1
NU - 3-0-0
PC - 1-1-1
UVM - 2-1-0

OOC
Denver - L
CC - W
Princeton - W
Harvard - W
Bentley - W
Clarkson - W,T

Total (HE) - 16-8-3 35 points
Overall - 21-8-4

Basically because I'm very scared when I actually expect something...
IIRC, UNH went out too... They will reciprocate both simultaneously (same weekend, likely)... I'll leave ScottK to give the years on that
We had been given a list of all the teams coming to the Tsongas over the next few years, Harvard included. Like I said above though, can't find the **** thread.

It'll be nice to see some rare strong NC opposition in Tsongas (albeit Minn. State in 10/11 in that marvelous 5 win season).

But, didn't Yale go west with UNH that weekend?

That was a mighty slick prediction, there - Monty!

I'll be able to go to the QF/Garden games, but just discovered I'm on call during the NCAA Regional Weekend. Since it's on TV, I'll be watching from home.

Not a big fan of "Fight Night at the Fells Forum" trumping the dates for a second straight year. Must be a big $$$ draw if they are willing to bump their own primary tenant for this type of event.

When's the last time a team with more than one first place vote was that far down the ballot? Must mean a lot of voters put Lowell closer to the bottom. Seems like a serious case of diz-ray to me

If it wasn't for those two votes, Lowell would've barely climbed this week ... despite an awesome 3-0 record against BC/MC. It was almost as if a few eastern voters realized that and gave Lowell a needed "boost". The pollsters are always looking at this week's results compared to last week's poll position and voting accordingly. Using that method, it makes it really hard for a team to leap up the polls unless they get some token "boosts" along the way..

The only poll I'm concerned with at this point in March has the letters PWR....it's the only one that matters.

Is it Friday yet? I know this will be a thing we will all say this week too!
I will be sitting in the student section, Monty knows me well enough to call me a true fan. I will be loud and I WILL be proud of this place I call home!
Also took me way too long to get this set up. (partially because I forgot my old ID)

Last week had a bunch of younger teen boys behind us. One of them had a dinky little cowbell. I got to hand out the rest of my cowbells- what a racket :D

This event is scheduled to feature co-headliners Scott McCreedy and Sean Eklund, not in the same bout. Both of these guys are, I believe, nephews of "Irish" Micky Ward and Dicky Eklund. Since the Irish theme is predominant, that is probably one of the reasons why it is being held on Saturday, March 16. Knowing that the event would be held on that date and in conjunction with HE Playoffs, I'm almost positive the University gave its blessing.

They might have given a blessing but I bet most of us wouldn't.

They could have done it on Sunday March 17 without causing any problems.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

From the email that I received from UML.

The playoff games will take place on Thursday, March 14 at 7:00, Friday, March 15 at 7:00 and Sunday, March 17 (if necessary) at 4:00.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Not sure if we were going to do it this year, but here are my predictions:
HE
BC - 1-2
BU - 2-0-1
Maine - 2-1
UMass - 3-0
Mack - 2-1
UNH - 2-1
NU - 3-0-0
PC - 1-1-1
UVM - 3-0-0

OOC
Denver - T
CC - W
Princeton - W
Harvard - W
Bentley - W
Clarkson - W,L

Total (HE) - 19-6-2 40 points
Overall - 24-7-3

Wasn't too bad looking at the beginning of the year. They won't hit 40, but 36 is close enough.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

I'll be home next week to visit with family and it looks like I may have to pack the McGrane jersey and come make some noise!
