Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Its better than that. UVM wins drops BU's max to 32 and we have the tiebreaker over them. A win tomorrow puts us above of merrimack as their max is 31, so its possible to clinch home ice tomorrow.

Such a fun night of hockey around the leauge.

4-2 Vermont!!

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

We control our own destiny for the first time this late since, what is it? 1996? Technically, probably the latest ever but I'm thinking in terms of games remaining in the regular season.

edit: UMass-Lowell clinches home ice with a win tomorrow ;) :D

Wish I had the time to catch tomorrow's game in North Andover ... that place is gonna be jumpin', eh??

Kudos to the Riverhawks for their amazing turnaround. How confident are you guys about running the table through next weekend?

Thanks. I am somewhat confident. By no means will they be easy games but we're really playing well right now. One game at a time, though; next stop: Lawler.

I wish I could be there... That place is going to be ridiculous.

Hey older (but possibly wiser) Lowell fans.. has this scenario ever came about where Lowell was the only team to have the opportunity to win out and take the regular season title going into the final weekend (yes I know today is not the final weekend but its close enough to count it as the final stretch)?

After BC's loss last night our MAX is 36 points which out ranks everyone else.

If I'm not mistaken, Lowell has never had a share of first place as late in the season as they did Friday ... so unless they had a series where they were in second and playing the team in front of them over the last weekend (which I don't think has happened), no they've never had this opportunity.

This is just so much fun right now.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

I am finding it anxiety provoking. Born and bred inthe old Red Sox era with a lot of practice at holding my breath. Never sad when the outcome is happy :p

Mourning the old Volpe Iceplex. Gone are the days when you parked outside the rink and sat where you could hear the bench talk and I could roll my eyes at Mr les when something happened. Takes the fun out of it to actually have assigned seating (which is in an awful place) and worse to have to hike over the hills and dales to get to the rink. Listening at home to Baaawb Ellis.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Here's what today's game means in the Pairwise:

If Lowell wins:

Lowell 4th
Merrimack 32nd

If Merrimack wins:

Lowell 9th
Merrimack 26th

If they tie:

Lowell 6th
Merrimack 30th

Just freakin' wow. Just a couple of weeks ago, we were talking about how the TUC was going to kill us when we hit the 10 game mark. Amazing.

As Al Davis said ... "Just win, baby!"

I checked BC's PWR after their loss yesterday afternoon -- they had dropped to 9th, but after the outcome of the later games, moved up to 5th, so things are pretty dynamic. That said, the next game to be played by anybody is on Friday, so if you're in 4th (or 9th, for that matter,) you'll be there for the better part of the week, at least.

Great day to be a hockey fan! UML vs MC on TV at 4pm, then heading to the Forum for Chelmsford vs Melrose in the MIAA D1 North quarterfinals at 6:30 and finally ending the day at the Glenview Pub for Bruins vs Canadiens.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

FYI for anyone thinking of going down to PC next Saturday - with the construction at Schneider, seating capacity is down to 2089. They've sold out their last 5 home games. With 1st place potentially on the line and it being Senior Night for them, I expect that will become 6 sellouts in a row. I've never had a problem walking up on game night and getting a ticket, but I don't think that will be the case next week.
