Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

None whatsoever.

Destroying the pretenders out west is what is most important this week.
I agree and disagree. From the hockey perspective, this is a huge series this weekend.

From the school's perspective, today is a huge day. BTW, I wonder if Merrimack will also wind up in the AE. Would be good to keep that rivalry going.

I don't know enough about what Merrimack is doing... we've done all the right things as far as I can tell... I am really leery about Merrimack.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

This weekend has massive potential. I like Lowell's chances with Amherst even though the Minutemen have been playing better recently. A 3 or 4 point weekend is a must at this point and I'm sure the building will be buzzing with all the excitement surrounding the athletic dept's big move.

Honestly, Division 1 for all sports would have never happened without Meehan. I think we all know that. The UMass Board of Trustees has always been trying to elevate Amherst and bring down Lowell for years. Without Marty pushing for this the way he does for everything he wants for the university, there's no way they would have allowed it.

Could you imagine the hate coming from the west with an Alumni Cup victory and a move to D-1? :D

The administration has strategically placed 7 year old Honda Civics around the campus to prevent a mass riot.

On D-1. Yes, we needed Marty. But, to be honest, I think we all played a roll in this.

I was at the Tsongas this morning picking up the comp tickets for the Saturday game and the lobby is all decked out with a stage, bunting and a couple of huge banners with UML and America East logos on them. They were even setting up a spot for the band.

Thanks for the link. Tried to watch at work but the work network wasn't friendly with the streaming video from an "unsecured" site. Sigh.

Great to hear about the move to D1 and to read up on the details on how the athletic department is going to look in the coming years.

Really looking forward to the games this weekend. Will be happy to be in attendance on Saturday (Mrs. GoUML is a big fan of pucks and paws night) and really hope for 4 points on the weekend (and maybe to see Hellebuyck play for 1+ games). After last night's UNH-PC game, points are really needed in order to keep pace with Providence (1 against Merrimack this weekend) and BU (2 in Orono)

More problems for BU.

Scott McLaughlin ‏@smclaughlin9
BREAKING: BU's Alexx Privitera has been suspended for the rest of the season by the coaching staff.

Last person still on the roster in March, please turn off the lights at Agganis.

Wow.

If you haven't read Two Minutes of Hate this afternoon ... you're missing out.
Amherst is kind of like the child in the neighborhood that your parents made you play with, despite your repeated claims that he smelled like a dumpster, was terrible at all sports, and had a penchant for setting things on fire.

Who else is bringing their furry friend(s) to the game on Saturday? I traded in my 2 season tickets and the 2 free vouchers for 4 seats in section 110 (Row 7) so our dog can join us. It will be an interesting evening as my dog is harmless but has a very loud bark!

Kudos to Scott and the rest of the Athletic Department for doing pucks and paws again. I'm very happy that the school supports the Lowell Humane Society as they are pretty much part of South Campus.

Daughter bringing our golden retriever. Had fun bringing her last year and was excited about it again this year. Last year the golden teamed up with a friend's dog and won the "chow down" (a la the Vic's sub eating contest)...funny to see the dogs up on the big video screen during the contest.
