Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Thanks for posting that, no paper today! I'm, glad the article shed some light on his absence:

"Boasting a 1.54 average and .949 save percentage for the season, Hellebuyck suffered a minor injury in practice after beating Providence 2-1 in a nationally-televised game and then fell ill, keeping him out of the nets for the last three weeks."

Hope everyone made it through the storm OK. At least 3 feet in Nashua, but a bit tough to tell the exact amount due to the blowing snow.

Probably about the same here. There some pretty high drifts out there. Hopefully it's as light and fluffy as they are saying on tv.

LIght, fluffy and blowing around like a MF. My face is still burning 1/2h after I have been inside

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

If any UML fans are thinking about making the trip to Agganis on 2/22 I have some discounted tickets for sale. I've got a large group going and a few people backed out on me.

I'm interested. How much, how many do you have, and where are you sitting?

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

With the postponement of the BC game, Lowell now has a home and home against UMass. UMass has been playing much better hockey recently, having won three of the last four (including wins over BC and BU). They're currently leading 2-1 at Merrimack tonight. And you have to feel that they're wanting some revenge for that ***-kicking they took from Lowell earlier this season.

UMass currently has 15 points, and today's game at MC will even Lowell and UMass on games. Lowell is 3 points up as of now, so next weekend is big anyway.

UMass lost 4-2 to Merrimack. Amazing to think that if UNH loses (currently in OT) to PC today, Merrimack would be in 2nd place. Considering everything, that's freakin' impressive. And if it plays out that way, they'd be playing at BC on Friday for first place. Amazing.

My Head hurts. I would have to cheer the Mack and I come from the era that wasn't cool.

Depending on your point-of-view, they are in second place with the today's tie at UNH. Merrimack has the season series on UNH, so they would hold the higher seed between the two of them. The big questions for Merrimack were the goaltending without Cannata and their lack of discipline in taking bad penalites. While the jury is out still on the latter, they have definitely answered the question on the former with Marotta fitting the bill as a serviceable goalie. Mike Collins has returned to his freshman form scoring goals and is at the top of my short-list for POY.

Today's results both helped and hurt Lowell at the same time. The good news is that today's loss was the game in hand that Amherst had on us and of course did not gain any further ground. The bad news is that Lowell is now seven points from the third place seeding, making it imperative that Lowell gains no less than three points this upcoming weekend. Let's hope the unplanned "bye" weekend courtesy of the blizzard can get some guys healthy, regain the focus they had during the streak, and keep our home-ice prospects in sight. We can't afford any more zero-point weekends.

With those stats, he deserves to be in net more than Carr does. Carr is about last in all categories for HE goaltenders.

Only 9 games left, it's time to take care of business starting Friday night in Amherst.

Speaking of the Mack, they've posted a job listing for their first women’s hockey coach.

“The head coach will oversee the immediate launch of a women’s club team and, in conjunction with the athletic department, build a pathway to elevating the team to varsity status and competing as an NCAA Division I team in the Hockey East Association.

Do what you can and the rest will take care of itself.

Well said.

Lowell needs the 4 points this weekend and whatever happens in the other games is out of their control. After this weekend it's all home and homes with BU, Merrimack and Providence. Plus the makeup game with BC wedged between the BU and Merrimack series.

Now is the time for this team as they are going to play 7 games against teams ahead of them in the standings. What more can you ask for?

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Helleybuyck has been back to practice. Will he be in goal this weekend? I hope so.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Um ... so what could be classified as huge news...

I saw this rumor on Twitter this morning, but please note it's a rumor. Came from this site.

FYI, thought I'd spoil the fun. Source of mine told me tomorrow UML will be announced as a member of America East

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread II

Awesome news!!! Been waiting for this for a while now!

Very excited for this weekend and hope the Hawks can get back on track against a team they squashed earlier in the year. I'll be making the trek out to Amherst on Friday. Heard the students are taking a bus down and I hope it's full. Anyone know how ticket sales for Saturday's game are going?

Any word on whether Hellebuyck is playing this weekend?
