UMaine Hockey 23 - 24: The Barr Crawl to Glory!!!

I think you go back to the UConn series and from then on they have struggled. They would have gotten swept that weekend if they didn’t have a review go their way and then UConn imploded in the third.

I don’t see it as an effort issue at all. I think Maine is giving it everything they have there just isn’t much left in the tank.

Maybe before uconn, colgate came into the alfond and tied, barely won against Bentley and Union.
Good showing at Dartmouth and RIT though.

First time I’ve been really upset/disgusted with a Maine effort/result this year and in a long time overall.

sign of progress but also sign that we might not be there just yet

Tonight's game will be big in rebuilding confidence after a woodshed thrashing last night...I feel they will bounce back...learning for both team and Barr...sadly getting thrashed can wake a team up...especially on the road.

Got to give UNH credit. They played a near perfect game. MS7 had them ready to go, Bennie not so much apparently. Saturday night will be telling.

I think Ben has to shake things up at this point as the same ol, same ol isn't working. If you put the Saturday PC game on top of the UNH game you wouldn't be able to tell the difference except Boija was better against PC. No time or space for Maine either night.

Maine only committed one penalty last night for 2 minutes. They will be in the box more tonight after Barr reams them out and tells them to finish their checks. Golden opportunity last night with a 5 minute PP and Maine couldn"t capitalize.

I have to wonder the same thing. Really bad last night in transition and 2 shots the first period? Yikes. I will consider this trip successful if we can get a W tonight. Barr seemed pissed talking to the BDN last night and rightfully so.

Also the Maine board needs to get over not selling alcohol at games. UNH does it and Maine needs to also..think of all the extra money.

100%! Too many people on this board do not understand the sometimes the opponent is just better. It is not always because Maine sucks when Maine loses. UNH played the game that they have been waiting for all season long. (UNH also has 6 or 7 draft picks and this was one of the games this season that they played like it.

Since the goal, UNH dominated puck, Maine stood still. Ostman in net tomorrow. Tough place to play but Maine hasn't looked like earlier in season thats for sure.
It ain’t the goalie turning the puck over on bad passes all over the ice all night long.

Maine is playing like a team with only 1 draft pick and a corps of upperclassmen who make Wes Clark look like an All American.

The Black Bears are still under construction and Ben’s doing fine. (Statistically, Maine cannot miss the NCAA Tournament this year…would anyone have asked for anything more at the start of the season?)

Pretty sure most to all know the game just as well as you...just frustration has set in...playing meaningful hockey does that to a soul.. :)

Everyone likes what has happen to a point...call it greed...winning does that.

I understand the goalie wasn't the big problem, I believe Ben will shake the team up tonight so Ostman is going back in and the NB line will be back together. I been around long enough to remember Walshs teams getting spanked at the Whitt also.

Still at times a tough learning process...heated rivalry, plus the last 10 games have not been there best showing...Ostman in net tonight, renew the NB Line....tweak a player or two and roll the dice tonight...3 points are important for them tonight imo...and for years the Whitt has been harsh on Maine teams as you say...sometimes it can creep into a teams head....time to break that streak tonight...

“We got our butts kicked,” said Barr. “They outworked us. They owned us in every aspect of the game.

“It was embarrassing. It was our worst game of the year, by far,” he added.

Team sheet is out and it shows Ostman in net and Breen back with Nadeaus. Trudeau, Pabich, and Dalton all axed from last nights team.
