Barr sure has this team playing well, cant believe it, in only basically after two years. Enjoy it while we can folks, when Barr moves on its all over.
He has the 2nd, 3rd, 4th lines playing well, their so much improved since October which is making the team so tough.
The boys are fast and in great shape, wearing down the opposition, saw the results of this with rit and dartmouth this weekend.
Looking forward to getting back to HE play.

Renwick being hurt might cost him by being replaced by scott on the 2nd line.

He is going to get paid by Maine. I have said it multiple times an extension has to be in the works break out the brinks. I think he does like coaching here too

The NB line is awesome. But what's often missed is how much deeper Maine are this year. The Houle, Scott, Freel line has been consistently good. I think the Trudeau, Pabich, Scholle line was great this weekend. And the Poisson, Hanson, Niemo line wasn't bad, and is missing Renwick.

Spot on...he's not leaving anytime soon...he has a plan in place...not even done yet in that department. Might be surprised that it is not always the big$$$$,but the right place at the right time. And I can be very wrong....

Guess I should have seen those hand passes on the disallowed Dartmouth goal.

Not sure on the Brinks truck for Coach Barr, maybe if an alum steps up? He deserves it for sure. Quite the turn around. Love that Pabich goal and then schoole schools the big goalie twice. Good stuff.

Yeah Im sure he will get an extension and $, filling the alf9ond is paying off.
As to how long he stays, I dont see him here as a career coach, 5 or 6 yrs maybe 7 tops.?? Who knows just enjoying it while we have it.
Family life is good here too so hope he enjoys being here.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that we could be a destination school for an elite coach, i.e Barr. Elite conference, school is investing in the program and facilities, passionate fanbase, history in the program, etc. I guess what I'm saying is that it's not inevitable that he leaves, provided that UMO ponies up the requisite cash of course.

I agree, at the end of the day he has to look out for his family. If Maine makes sense for his family both from a quality of life and financial perspective, why leave? It’s in no way inevitable especially given the fact that there is a formula to be relevant at Maine every year. Win your home games and play .500 hockey on the road and you’re a tourney team year in and year out.

Great weekend of hockey. Seems like Barr may have found something in that Scholle-Trudeau-Pabich line. That line are all guys that can develop and help carry Maine over the next few years.

Nice to see Scott get rewarded this weekend and Breen was an absolute workhorse both games.

Would Maine be better off to have Scott center the Nadeau’s and then reunite Poisson/Breen/Houle for a second line?

I think it’s hard for us to know what is going on politically behind the scenes. Assuming Maine finishes over .500 in the league this year and the extension is triggered he would have three years left. With that being the case I think it’s more likely the school waits until after next season.

For us looking at the situation in a vacuum giving him an extension makes all the sense in the world but I’m sure for the powers that be there are other considerations. Could he get NIL money? Perhaps that would be the best way to get him some extra money without rocking the boat.

I would hope Barr is reasonably happy with the hockey situation but who knows how it is working out for his family. Obviously there is a fair amount of luck involved as far as what jobs open when as well.

I don’t think you mess with what was out there this weekend. Poisson is struggling a little bit, I’ve been wondering if he’s banged up. Houle deserves a lot of praise, seems like no matter where you put him in the lineup he plays well.

My take is when renwick comes back, Hanson likely sits.

I think that I'll wait for Barr to win something and actually get Maine into the NCAA tourney before I anoint him King.

That being said....he's going to get an extension with a raise. Maine is one of the only schools in the country where hockey is numero uno with BU, UNH, North Dakota & Denver being a few of the others. Obviously the Alfond Foundation gift has been a game changer and will have a huge effect on Maine Athletics going forward. People are so engaged with this program that a NIL makes a lot of sense...everyone wants to be associated with a winner. I think going forward that Maine will be in the top tier of hockey programs and when Barr decides to leave....Maine will be in a position to attract and pay a quality coaching candidate.

UMaine is never going to break the bank for a coach. Never. A great coach will ALWAYS be able to make a LOT more somewhere else. A coach like Walsh has to value things besides cold, hard cash to make a career at UMaine. Could Barr be that good of a coach and want that type of career? Sure. But he would fall into a clear minority of elite coaches. A minority of elite professionals in any line of work, really. Here's hoping!

They're not got going to break the bank but they will pay a reasonably competitive salary now. The Alfond money IS a game changer. UMaine can no longer afford to let this program fall apart like they did for the prior decade plus.
