Overall very impressed with the effort as an opening night win. Hope they come out with the same energy tmrw night as well.

Outside of that first 10 or so minutes Maine flat out dominated the remainder of the game. Feel like I can count on one hand how many 50/50 puck battles RPI won. Maine was flying around, sticks in every passing lane and controlled the puck better than any team I can recall in recent years.

The top line obviously stole the show, and will get all the attention but very pleased with how the secondary lines played even if just Renwick got on the board.

There was quite a large faction of Nadeau family seated near us and they all looked like they were having a blast!

What a great game to open up the season. Not sure what to make of it since it’s so early but outshooting a team like that is no small task.

As if the Nadeau hype couldn’t get bigger, they come out and shine tonight. They’re both terrific players, Josh might not get the media buzz but he is shifty and similar to Breen, he seems to the little weight he has extremely well. Bradly is the real deal, he has all the tools to be an excellent pro. The biggest surprise about them is the quality of their skating and their 5 on 5 play. They can fly and are also physical.

Excited about tomorrow night, hope we see more of the same. Maine was unlucky to only score 4 tonight.

Ostman played the entire game tonight.
I thought he pulled him late in the third. Had sound turned off. But I thought I saw Ostman on bench. I did think it was weird.

Anyway, good win, let’s see if they can do it again tonight. My guess is RPI is going to try to beat the first line up.

My take was they came out trying too hard to score to blow the roof off of Alfond Arena....picked up their game from 2nd period on, work in progress as in getting use to each other....Both Nadeau boys are the real deal and Breen brings the moxie to the line...thinking tonight they open up with a bang from the get go...Bradley has a bullet of a shot with his brother Josh and Breen as little passing and pain in the butts wizards...solid line that will be shadowed hard in games to come.....once they have 4-5 games together they will be lethal. This may sound odd but hoping RPI puts at least 20 shots on Ostman to get him more action/work in net tonight.

After watching them struggle to get the puck through the neutral zone for a decade I thought last night was like Christmas morning! Although they should have won by 5 or 6.

The Poisson/Renwick/Houle line looked decent-good. Most seem to think they'll develop into a nice second line.

What did you guys think of the Freel/Scott/Pabich and Trudeau/Hanson/Niemo lines?

I didn't think Niemo looked as good without Scott. I actually thought Trudeau stood out the first few shifts his line had but then got quiet. I feel like Freel could be a 15 goal scorer if he could put the puck somewhere else other than the goalies chest.

I definitely want to see them against deeper teams, but they did a good job with their cycle game last night. Shame neither line got on the scoresheet together because they generated plenty of chances.

If last night was any indication we might have a chance to see plenty of those lines tonight.

I think my biggest takeaway last night (outside of the brilliance of the top line) was how tenacious Maine was especially on the forecheck. Maine plays with their RW high on the forecheck which puts Josh N, Houle, Pabich, Niemo up top who all possess speed and tenacity. Houle and Pabich were all over the ice and both played great games. Pabich developing into a three zone middle 6 forward will be huge for the program.

I thought Trudeau was more noticeable than he was most of last year. I’ll take that step
forward. He needs to play with a fire under his *** like his teammates. Think when he develops that side of his game he will find himself in better situations.

Nobes also got better as the game went on. Curious as to why Hopkins wasn’t dressed.

As everyone has said, secondary scoring will make or break this season. That and avoiding major breakdowns in the midst of out-chancing and not converting against opponents.

So great to have hockey back :)

The 3 and 4 lines need some time to find what works, barr will surely change them up to find a combination. Scott looked good seems like a good pickup. Trudeau still seems tentative and puck watches too much, not sure he will ever develop here, didnt show any improvement over last year.

The 2nd line, ??, give them time, Renwick has a ton of potential and Poisson alot of experience, Houle thrashes around disrupting and occasionally makes a nice play. If they can synch these things they will be a good line.

Kind of surprised Lesakowski was in the lineup after what I saw in practices and scrimmages. Figured he would have to earn his way into the lineup as the season progressed.

Pabich really played great in the second half last year too. Hopefully the points start following the effort with him because he's become one of my favorites to watch.

I’m glad to see the BDN mention Josh Nadeau's outstanding one handed pass to Breen for the score. Josh showed a lot of physical strength last night, way more than I expected.

He will be a plus-plus player for Maine...as the spot-light will always be on his brother...he's solid and will be a force...he plays with an edge.
