UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Freel essentially said as much. It's still Maine UNH and they're playing to win
They need to do more than win.

They need to embarrass UNH. Score so many it breaks UNH’s will to compete.

Let’s not forget who UNH is and what they did.

Benedict Arnold was a UNH grad. And very likely that guy Jared on the subway commercials was too.

Clearly UNH needs punished.

On the radio sounds like maine isnt doing much at all.
Sounds like the freshmen defensemen are struggling. Usereau with a couple turnovers and took a penalty. Peterson icing the puck. Sounds like they are struggling in their own end and having a hard time getting the puck out. Motew, the least likely to score, puts one in from the point. So that is a bright spot. It didn’t seem like he got many shifts before that.

Let’s hope they step it up. I think Maine has 10 shots on goal after 2 periods. Pretty wild.

Maybe still the case for the visiting womens team when theres also a mens home game. The maine women had their old locker room anyway.
Womens visiting team might still use the old bbball locker room up in the back when mens visiting team is in house and have to walk down the stands to the bench.
This assumes they didnt build/rehab 2 new visiting locker rooms. But I dont know what they did.
Last time I went to a women’s game both teams had to walk through the stands to old bball locker rooms.

Must of been a while? Women have had their own locker room for quite some time coming onto ice out the the left ice side, where men are now too.
Maybe that was the time their locker room flooded?

A lot of work to do. The third period is what I expected from this team but certainly going to take some time for this team to mesh. Nadeau was great but my concern is it felt like everyone was waiting around for him to make something happen. Max Scott is as advertised, seems like he will slot right into his brothers role.

The bright side is it’s just an exhibition and the third period was good so let’s give these boys some time to figure it out. The talent is there but there are so many new faces, it won’t happen overnight.

Rousseau, Scott, Lapinski and Marques sounded like some of the players making plays in this game. Offense still seems hard to find in Barr's system but there are a lot of new faces so....just glad they are playing Holy Cross at home next weekend.

Barr on the game: https://youtu.be/gMdDu1IbigU

One thing he said…. “missed a lot of hits, missed a lot of chances to get pucks deep”

If you want to get in Coach’s doghouse I think that is the best way to do it… don’t hit people, try to hotdog every time you get the puck, and fail to get the puck deep.

Impressions from last night. High intensity game, especially for a scrimmage. Both sides went at it. Rousseau is very quick, though a bit smaillish he as quick or quicker than Boija (sp). I was in one of the corners so I could see how the d handle pressure in their own zone. Thought Usereau was a stud. Made a few nice plays in his own end, once laying out to prevent a tic tac toe opportunity. Coughlin looked composed....overall very impressed with the new Canadians, they all looked comforatable out there. Did not see much of Marques or Porier, Im not sure they got a lot of ice time. What I saw of Lipiniski was favorable. UHN played very well defensively in first 2 periods, Maine had trouble getting to the net so shot totals were low. But the third period they had good pressure all period. A fun game to watch, Bowdoin rink a bit on the small side but very welll maintained and looks great. Nice place to watch a game.
