UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

It does....just don't think it is a great idea to charge for it.....do you? Build more demand so you can charge higher ticket prices in the future. Don't make seeing the renovations a pay-for-event. Maybe they will buy tickets to the football game?
I'm not sure how much higher demand can be when tickets are essentially sold out in 15 minutes. Maine will never be able to keep up with the Big10 moneywise, but I'm all for creative ways to try to raise as much money as possible.

Well then......why not charge $100.....or $1000 per person to tour the renovations? After all the sky's the limit.....right?

Set the price the same way literally all prices are set. What is somebody willing to pay for the service provided? IMO, Sparkee is in the right ball park if there is a reception included.

So you are saying that hockey tickets should be $100 per game or more? That certainly would help with season ticket holder turnover.

Some of us are already paying that
Man you guys are a tough crowd. Yeah....club seats $2-3K each. I tried but they weren't available. A lot of us don't mind paying and can.....big whoop. Yes some people pay brokers outrageous prices for seats that quite frankly suck comfort wise. Now tell me what seats other than club seats come close to $100 each and are sold by UMaine?

Listen guys....I'm a capitalist. Charge through the roof if you can so we can buy the best players as well. But let's be real.....Northern/Eastern Maine isn't filled with wealth.....and there's this thing called good will and public image. Start raping your customers during the good times and they will remember that during the bad times.

What are you talking about? Maine hockey has never had bad times! It's not like the Alfond was sitting at half capacity for a decade. Or the program went from the most revenue of any (public school) team east of Michigan to being in the red. Or we went from spending a week at a five-star resort in LA at Christmas to the coach having to beg money to be able to afford a road trip to a conference game. Nah, that'd never happen.

General club is 2100 per seat for the season.

I wasn't arguing with you, but there is some money out there right now because the program has a vibe. Why not taken advantage of it?

Right.
Barr leaves and a bad hire we are right back to literally not being able to give tickets away and digging the hole deeper begins.
Theres a definite limit to what can be charged for tickets.

Understand both sides of the argument and think both are valid. I agree that charging admission just to come and look at the arena is a bad look.

However, someone mentioned a potential arena unveiling, football ticket and drink voucher package that seems like a great idea. This is the kind of thinking that energizes not just Maine hockey but Maine athletics in general. 20-30 bucks and gets butts in seats for football too.
