Demolish TKE and ROTC (find ROTC new digs) and that makes a great spot for additional parking....preferably a parking garage......good spot for it.Drove by the rink today first time this summer, things are coming along, lots of work going on with the outdoor patio area in front of the new alfond entrance and the parking/drive area out front.
Lots to do in a short time for the opener.
I noticed the frat house across college ave from the back entrance into the alfond looked like its vacant, cleaned out. Could it be getting demo'd? Maybe for parking?
The TKE house, wow what a dump, worse its been. Tear that thing down and put in parking. No apologies to the ex tke'rs.
Seems like many of the houses have been maintained like sh*t. I don't blame the U for getting rid of the eyesores. Are the Greeks all being tossed from campus?
I always heard the soils on Marsh Island were not conducive for parking structure and they would settle/shear faster than other buildings. Though I'm no GeoTech so don't quote me.Demolish TKE and ROTC (find ROTC new digs) and that makes a great spot for additional parking....preferably a parking garage......good spot for it.
Also Crossland Hall could be demolished.....that parking lot next to it could be expanded.....or a parking structure there.....another great location for one although it wouldn't be the most attractive thing to have up on that hill.
Id heard the same on the soils, then people will argue to the contrary. Maybe it boils down to it being a substantial cost to accommodate the soils. ?? I also wouldn't support uprooting long tenured student organizations in the name of parking.
Ibid.That was fast.
Open to public? The University will be hosting a reception at 9:30AM on Saturday, 27 September followed by the dedication of the renovated Shawn Walsh Hockey Center, Alfond Arena and the New Balance Track&Field and Soccer complex at 10:30. Tours will be available after the dedication.
Only game left to get is the Lowell game in Portland. I can’t make it on a Wednesday. Here is the link: https://www.ticketmaster.com/univer...yMjY1OTMkbzEkZzEkdDE3NTYyMjY1OTUkajU4JGwwJGgwIbid.
All seats sold out online, including the exhibition game.
Yet they are going to be building a massive new arena....on Marsh Island? Go figure. UMaine has a great engineering department....if they can scrounge up the money....they can figure out a way to build a 3 level parking structure.I always heard the soils on Marsh Island were not conducive for parking structure and they would settle/shear faster than other buildings. I wonder if they will charge a fee for the tour? I wonder what would be an appropriate amount per person if they do charge? I would think $10 per person is reasonable. But what about $20 or $30?Open to public?
Where is the reception at the rink i assume?
That would be a pretty bad look for a public university.I wonder if they will charge a fee for the tour? I wonder what would be an appropriate amount per person if they do charge? I would think $10 per person is reasonable. But what about $20 or $30?
Very good question. It isn't listed on the calendar and the link in my email opens a form that autofills my information.Open to public?

Unless they are holding any back for future sales, every game is sold out (with the exception of a few handicapped accessible wheelchair seats). Stubhub ot Seatgeek will likely be your best bet. If UNH returns any of its allotment those tickets will be on sale the evening of the game at 5PM.UNH fan looking to go to Alfond with my wife for the Saturday Dec 6 game. If anyone has 2 tix they want to get rid of![]()
Season ticket holder at UNH so we will get a seat. Go to reception, and then tour. Then tailgate and football game. Then happy hour with Coach. Sounds like a solid day. That would be a pretty bad look for a public university.
That being said.....I think a cocktail reception that evening with both hockey coaches previewing their seasons and new renovations would be an excellent fundraiser.
It does....just don't think it is a great idea to charge for it.....do you? Build more demand so you can charge higher ticket prices in the future. Don't make seeing the renovations a pay-for-event. Maybe they will buy tickets to the football game?Go to reception, and then tour. Then tailgate and football game. Then happy hour with Coach. Sounds like a solid day.
I’m not sure. I was more thinking if they do charge, what is an acceptable amount. I think $20 or less would be acceptable for me. Since I go out on my lunch break and am doing well to spend less than $15.It does....just don't think it is a great idea to charge for it.....do you?
