I'm very happy for the entire Maine fan base........we deserved a weekend like this after the last few years!!! And I'm happy for the hockey program......both coaches and players. Unfortunately, this just magnifies TW's shortcomings as a coach.........if they can play like they did this past weekend........then why not all the time???
Play like what? A team good enough to beat a hapless BC team? Sorry, I'm not buying.

1-9-2 at Agganis....a few blowouts....Maine led both ties in the third period...you have the 2 OT losses Bishop's last year, the kicked goal game in 06, the ridiculous 5x3 call in the playoff game Nyquist's freshman year...
In short I figure at least one of these games is going to feature something of the "gut punch" frustration variety.
1-9-2 at Agganis....a few blowouts....Maine led both ties in the third period...you have the 2 OT losses Bishop's last year, the kicked goal game in 06, the ridiculous 5x3 call in the playoff game Nyquist's freshman year...
In short I figure at least one of these games is going to feature something of the "gut punch" frustration variety.

That's pretty much the question.
I was both astounded and delighted by Maine sweeping mighty BC, even if BC isn't particularly mighty right now.
At the same time, I wondered if the sweep was really a good thing for Maine in the long run, if it translates into a continuation of the TW era.
Personally, I don't think last weekend should garner Tim much currency. We're talking two games over the course of 5+ years of futility. Anything short of a FF, or even a NC, should not be enough to re-hire him, IMO... He's just done too little, too late.
(But I'm still frothing at the mouth to see how Maine will do at BU on TV on Saturday. Can't help myself.)

If anyone is going to the Maine - BU games this weekend there are events sponsored by the Black Bears of Boston. These will be two pre-game gatherings at Cornwall's Pub located at 654 Beacon Avenue from 4:30 - 6:30 Friday and Saturday.

Nice piece on Leen. I wondered what had happened to him after he looked so promising early on. My son has the close cousin of Crohns disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and believe me, it's no picnic - very tough to live with, even with the medications. Great to see some of these freshman start to emerge and contribute.

With the exception of the BU series this weekend, UML and UNH could both be troublesome games. The UML is the second night of a road b2b with Providence, and UNH could be fighting for it's Hockey East playoff lives by the time they reach the Alfond. The rest should be pretty easy.

Pretty sure everyone was on board with the CARING part...just we all have different ways in expressing on how we all feel about the Maine Hockey Program/Team/Coach.....the Passion is still there.Well the good thing about this thread is we proved something, with 2 posts to go, we proved we still care!
