Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Let's hope timmay doesn't start Marty tonight. Sullivan is still the better goalie and he;d be really good if he could ever control his rebounds..but still Sullivan is better than Marty...
I think you'll see Ouellette...in that TW will make it look like a statement...new goalie that has not seen much action since early November...a rally the troops play...I say go with #51 and scratch:Pryor(In Rutt)..Andersson(Cerretani)...I would also say Hegarty but no one to take his place,Higgins maybe out with a ankle injury..?..Leidermark in..? One last Question:Has D-man Norman been Red-Shirted..? So far Meat/Potatoes 6 game Test: 0-1-0...

Norman was red shirted

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

I'm sure the MC D is much more aggressive than Maines yet Maine had 6 penalties and MC had 3(last I knew anyway). Its all that poke check D timmay wants, once you miss the poke and the guy is by you, you have to pull him down.,

how can you write that?
how long have have YOU been a D1 coach, and how many teams have YOU taken to a bunch of Frozen Fours?
Internet Nutcase! don't know WHAT you are talking about... if you want Maine's D to play like Merrimack's D, you are just hoping for the demise of the program.

sorry... I just had to channel the ghost of Timmy's hockey genius...
isn't it amazing that the real hockey fans can see it?
(I have spoken with at least 100 fans of other teams, hockey officials --hockey east and otherwise--, Maine players current and past, family advisors, agents, AHL coaches, other D1 coaches, former D1 players who played for other teams, current and former Hockey East administrators, I can go on.. THEY ALL SAY THE EXACT SAME THING AS WHAT YOU WROTE.)

PS. has anyone EVERseen Bogos throw a hit without his arms crossed at chin-level? EVER?

i remember ALL of Shawn's D men coming within in an inch of getting called for each and every one of their hits, back in the day.... it is hockey... you do what the refs allow... they can only call so many penalties in a game, if the infractions are borderline, they allow alot

THANKS...I figure that was why he had only played in the Exhibition games....from what I saw of him,he needs to add some weight and muscle...hopefully he makes this summer a mission to be ready from the get-go....maybe a year in the USHL would have been better for him.

now way ghandi whitehead takes Pryor or Heggerty. My bet would be
O'Connor or Cornell. Only guys who play physical have no value
Pryor is a PP machine and Hegs is a key to PK. Even if he was on for 4
of the goals aginst, including 2 on PK
And Ouelette will be a better goal. Just so young. Needed a year o Jrs.....

We need people in the lineup that can win a faceoff................

I think last night's game mattered to Merrimack much more than Maine and the play reflected that. For me that was the difference much more than Merrimack being a better team. It's good to hear that Higgins only has a bruised ankle, when he came off it did not look good at all. Typing this makes me nervous, but I think tonight's game tell us a lot about this year's team.

Shawn worked the refs also, just like every coach in HE except........................

Anxiously awaiting Mahoney's manlove letter (article) to TIMMAY in tomorrow's BDN........no doubt that he will paint TIMMAY in the most positive light.

Larry Mahoney makes me want to puke.......I am so SICK of reading his sh*t articles in the Bangor Daily Rag!

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

See TIMMAY finally put Mangene at center last night, where I've been saying since October he belonged. But then, I'm no D-1 coach either, so what do i know?

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Mahoney didn't write anything last night, wasn't on the radio as far as I know so maybe he isn't there this weekend

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

“They played great,” said Maine senior defenseman and co-captain Will O’Neill. “They outplayed us and outworked us. They beat us to pucks. They got to the slot and got power play chances and that’s what we have to do on Saturday.”

Look, there's a lot of things the guys on the team can't control. They can't control the fact that TIMMAY's a lousy coach, and they can't control poor goaltending. They can't control the talent level on the team, nor the players that are recruited for the team.

But they sure as hell can control whether they're gonna let another team outplay and outwork them. They may not get the desired outcome every game, and they may struggle to get wins for the rest of the season. But there's no excuses whatsoever for being outworked. And who knows, they might just discover that if they start outworking the other teams, the results might come.

For those in the Boston area, the game is on in HD on channel 50-1 over the air.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Maine <3s power plays

Maine 1-0

Good call on starting Sullivan. If he's the guy, he's the guy. Don't give him a benching to think about going into next weekend.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Some great chances on the 2nd power play - no goal, but no cause for worry from the sound of it. Cannata was Cannata.

Still 1-0
