Marty in Goal, this should be special.

The team beats a few patsies, everyone gets excited, faces a real team and here we go again

Ffffft. Name one sane person who got excited about this Timmay team ?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sigh) One team has obviously improved since the last time these two met. Color me not surprised. (I don't think its a shade of blue)

Not everyone.

TIMMAY is what he is: a middling coach whose teams will stumble along +/- 3 or 4 games around the .500 mark. That's what he is, and that's all he will be, and that's all his teams will be, no matter how hard he and they might try. He'll beat the crappy teams most of the time, but just can't compete with those at the top of the standings.

Wonder if he ever lays awake nights wishing he hadn't run Guy and Grant out of town?

Yup. Couldn't agree more.

The worst part is we all knew it was coming...it happens over and over and over...more or less they were Thrashed.

Even Hannigan sounds disturbed. Signing off with "...try to have a good evening." and inflection like I've never heard from him before. He probably felt he was alone on the airwaves thinking anyone that had tuned-in had long since tuned-out. That's pretty telling to me.

Not sure when it happened - I'm thinking about 36 months ago - but it's been a while since a Maine loss either surprised me, or kicked me in the gut.

Tonight was more of the same; I watched MI/OSU, ND/WMU and MN/UND instead of even considering subjecting myself to the Maine webcast.

Apathy is Maine hockey's worst enemy, and believe me, I used to drive for hours in crap weather all Winter long, just see my Bears play anywhere... I'm the last guy on Earth who I would have expected to quit caring about what happens on a given night, but that has more-or-less happened to me.

We are all just playing the waiting game these days.

(Go Blue, just the same.)

Wow what a debacle tonight. Losing draws cost us 2-3 goals tn, where MM won the draw and it ended up in our net within 10 seconds. On top of that We get 2 quickies to get some momentum and then we run around and start taking stupid penalties. The scrum in front of the net was a 3 min pp for us and than we go and take 2 more quick penalties, so undisciplined.

you n me both. I probably went to 18 away games per season from 93 till 2009

and I AM one of the people who hopes that they lose every game... the only way to get Maine to succeed is to get whitehead out of there.
when they win, I m happy for the players on the ice, but they need to lose to have a chance at getting better.

I'm with ya. Me and my son used to travel the 2 hrs to Orono, always went down to Merrrimack, BU etc. Not anymore. I'm not wasting my hard earned $$ on something that's not worth watching. I still, and always will support the team, but I can't justify spending the time and money to go watch something, that quite frankly, doesn't give me the same joy and excitement that I used to have. It's sad, makes me feel like crap and it's a real shame. Especially not being able to share those times with my boy. Watching his apathy is the worst thing. All n all a crap deal.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

I can't hope for them to lose, just can't do it. I still go to games as my kid is 17 and we've done it all his life. One more year and he's in college and we won't be doing it anymore. But even he is disgusted and says I should give my tickets up next year. I'm glad he got to see some good teams when he was younger.

I'm sure the MC D is much more aggressive than Maines yet Maine had 6 penalties and MC had 3(last I knew anyway). Its all that poke check D timmay wants, once you miss the poke and the guy is by you, you have to pull him down.,

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Went last night, first game in about 3 years since I been living Bruins country. Forgot how much slower the college game is... and how atrocious the officiating is.

sat in the first row behind Maine's bench. TW never said a word all night, the best he could muster was a two-palms up "what gives?" shoulder shrug aimed at Hansen after the 2nd phantom tripping call. Kerluke shouted out on one missed MC call, I think, and TIMMAY gave him laser eyes that said "You will cease and desist." Granted, we were completely out-gunned from the first whistle, but MC got a few no-calls and phantoms that made the talent gap seem like the Marianas Trench. the first trip, which lead to 5-2 was a complete phantom MC player lost his edge and went down way behind two Maine players and Kelleher? made the call on the aftermath. That completely sucked out any wind Maine had.

Living in Newburyport I've met a ton of Triton guys that knew/know Corkum, for some mysterious reason they all think TIMMAY is the real deal.

PS. has anyone EVERseen Bogos throw a hit without his arms crossed at chin-level? EVER?

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

OK not the best game last night but have faith Coach Whitehead will lift our team to victory. Lots of teams lose games. We will succeed just have faith and support our coach and our team.
Go Black Bears!:):):)

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Let's hope timmay doesn't start Marty tonight. Sullivan is still the better goalie and he;d be really good if he could ever control his rebounds..but still Sullivan is better than Marty...
