Two thumbs way up! Coach Whitehead and our boys are making us proud!

Great job fellas. Keep up the excellent work.

Go Black Bears!:)

Yeah, but you can still see him in your peripheral vision.

Once again, Maine putting the Rubber to Canata, first good shot on goal on Sully, 1-0 MC

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Sullivan is no Cannata, but that was a much better scoring chance than anything Maine has generated, imo.

And so was that.

2-0 MC

Diamond with Maine's first great chance, getting behind the D, but Cannata wins.

Maine needs the refs to get whistle-happy. 5x5 isn't doing it.

Hannigan saying differently but whatever. Down 2-0 at MC means game over

From my vantage point, Maine controlled the first 5 minutes. They didn't get any clear shots, but they definitely created some chaos around Cannata a few times. They got some shots, but it didn't seem to me that they really tested Cannata.

On MC's first goal, they had a 2-1, with great spacing, all the way from center ice. No comparison, imo. Even on Diamond's break, he didn't have a lot of time or space. The guy who scored first for MC had all day to pick his shot.

The air went out of Maine's tires after the 2nd goal, and MC controlled play for most of the rest of the period - until the last minute or two.

Maine's either going to need a couple lucky bounces or they're going to need power plays.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Anyone watching the webcast of the Maine game and the game between Northeastern and BU on NESN or Ohio State/Michigan on the BTN? Maine and Merrimack look so slow compared to the other four teams. There is having speedy players and then there is playing fast; I am referring to the latter.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Desperate times call for desperate penalties.

Diamond gets the penalties going. MC to the power play with a 3-0 lead.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

There....3-0. Maybe Sullivan gets pulled again and his fragile confidence gets train wrecked again.

I see Diamond's lost his cool already.

That was bad. Matador defense by Hegarty forced Nemec to take a penalty.

Re: the hot streak. Maine finally putting it together, or just playing crappy opponents?

I vote #2.

And there's the makeup penalty on MC, after a sniper in the crowd shot Diamond's legs out from under him. :)

It was supposed to happen before MC made it 4-0, but it's that kind of night.

And it worked. 4-1. John (don't call him Jack) Parker with the goal.
