This is only on hindsight but I think Maine should have played Ouellette last night in net...down the line in case of injury or for a few bad outings on Sullivans part...Ideal game for him last night...but thats just imo.

And Lowell still has BU twice and Merrimack still has BC twice.

I think that Maine will finish #3.......might sneak into #2.

Agreed. The best part is the fact that UML and Mack still have to play each other three times. I am perfectly happy with BC and BU doing well down the stretch for the sake of our Pairwise. Get home ice, win the quarterfinal series, and the rest will take care of itself.

What's the word on Diamond? Certainly could use him this coming Saturday. Good cop, bad cop, Timmy, Bobby....I have to think if Diamond was in the lineup Friday night he might have willed them to a better second period with a timely hit or two.

Hip Flexor...should be in the lineup this weekend...his spunk/intensity and planting his butt in front of the net would have been needed Friday and will be key to this weekends upcoming games @ PC & UML.

We might never see Ouellette play in a Maine uniform again. He will most likely transfer.

Hope he likes school anyway, has to be frustrating to not get a chance to play.

It's his choice if he plays or not. If he wants it he needs to force his way into the lineup and then prove he should be in there when he does play. He hasn't done either this year from what I have seen.

He had chances, just couldn't mentally get into it. Tim knows he has to make the tournament, so he is going with the best goalie to give them the best shot at making it. I agree he will be gone next year.

Well said!

Yeah, Still has to be frustrating

well, not that Ouellette has been Matt Lundin-esque... but there was not a lot more Matty couldda done

Re: UMaine - 2011-2012 Season Thread (cont) - Beating Back the Internuts ?

I don't know whose "choice" it is.....Martin got the start opening night and that was probably his best outing of the year. They went back and forth until December....seems like Sully won it fair/square. I suppose looking at the sked maybe Marty could have gotten a game the Vermont weekend...but he wasn't exactly great in the USA/U18 game and besides that....I mean once it got to Florida they're desperate for wins and riding the hot hand.

I could have seen him getting Saturday night if Friday hadn't gone the way it did...but with that happening they couldn't risk another let down.

I wish Oullette had played better. I hope he sticks it out, its tough to blame anybody for the way its gone in terms of fairness.

Re: UMaine - 2011-2012 Season Thread (cont) - Beating Back the Internuts ?

I really thought Marty was the guy after seeing him a couple of times last year, but it's hard to sit Sully these days. He's just been so solid.

It would be nice to have the luxury of two such goalies right now, but I'm not complaining. (When was the last time we were all looking at where Maine is in the PWR in February, FCS?)

Might have to change plans and make reservations in Worcester or Bridgeport, you never know.

Adam Shemansky left the game with a possible concussion in the 3rd period. Certainly hope that it is not serious and that he will be healthy soon.

Nick Pryor have the same problem? I think he took a pretty cheap shot to the head on Friday

A little history for ya champ. Long ago when UAH was trying to schedule some quality teams it was Walsh who scheduled you guys when others wouldnt in an attempt to jump start your program. So no need to bemoan the Maine program . We've done our fair share to help you guys get started, much less survive to this point.

Please notice that my comments were directed towards your color guy, not your program. Maine has scheduled UAH a number of times since we've gone D-1. Our guys always love the trip because they love the atmosphere. It's usually decent hockey [unlike what we played Saturday night], too. I've not made the trip to Orono, as the 2003-4 trip around this time of year [1-0 Maine win, 2-2 tie] was the year after I stopped doing radio. I'd love to make the trip some time and see Alfond for myself.

One of our player-parents emailed Whitehead [sorry, TIMMAY] to thank him for the series, and his response included indications that there could be games each of the next two seasons. I can only be hopeful that one of those years would be down here, although I'd expect that would be in the Nashville weekend we have done the last two year and will probably continue to do.

Best of luck the rest of the season. I'm sorry we didn't spoil your Pairwise like we did Denver's, though.

Spencer Abbott has been named Athletic Republic Hockey East Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Thats awesome, I was just looking at the HE scoring and it's pretty crazy that besides Flynn, there are 4 guys tied for third in scoring and Abbott has freaking 17 points on them. That's huge!
