UConn 2014-2015: Let the Hockey East Era Begin

Re: UConn 2014-2015: Let the Hockey East Era Begin

CT Now article.

Next up: two games at Alabama-Huntsville, Oct. 9-10, to open 2015-16 season. A week later, the Huskies take the ice in Hartford for an attractive home-opening weekend.

On Oct. 17, UConn will play Arizona State, a championship club program turned fledgling Division I program, at the XL Center. The next night, the Huskies will host Quinnipiac. That game, like every other home game on the schedule, will also be at the XL. The Bridgeport experiment is over.

Very good article. Thank goodness the XL will become a real home. Season tix are now much more attractive.

Big get with Evan Wisocky. Multiple other HE schools in the mix, he chose UConn. Goal scorer, probably 2016 possibly 2017.

Another who'd a thunk: that UConn in its first HE season would have a tie against each team in the NC$$ Championship game?? :)

The planets are back in correct alignment now. An all HE final. This must be one of the historical high points of eastern college hockey vs. western teams.

No more historical than Yale vs Quin 2 years ago.

Re: UConn 2014-2015: Let the Hockey East Era Begin

Three years in a row eastern champions is what I was talking about.
Actually four in a row, and that has never happened before. It's also 7 out of 8, the most successfull stretch the east has ever had. The only other time the east had sustained success was from 1967-72 when Cornell won in 67 and 70 and BU won in 71 and 72. More impressive is that the 4 year run will have 4 different eastern teams win.

Sean, good catch. I have been travelling overseas and did not see this until just now. You have articulated clearly the points I was trying to make via intuitive reasoning and no time to look things up.

Congrats to Providence!! Wonderful win! Don't feel so bad about that loss on the Huskies' record now.

Just Coach Cav being Coach Cav. Teaching the players a lesson about caring and giving back to those less fortunate (see Husky Award). The strength of his character was widely publicized when he got the job, it's nice to experience it as a fan and supporter. It's clear, above being a great coach and motivator (see pre-season predictions vs. season ending results; also see # of scholarships compared to rest of league), he genuinely cares about the development of these young men both on and off the ice. For those having a bad day, go to Camden's website www.camdenscrusade.com.

Proud to support UCONN Hockey!

Just ordered my season tix for next year. Its been awhile because I ski a lot. But I broke my wrist early last season and thus managed to get to a couple games. They were so much fun that we had to re-up. Section 124 at the bottom of the short aisle. Where the Whalers brass used to sit.

Another perfect APR of 1000 for both men's and women's ice hockey teams. Same for men's basketball and the national championship women's basketball and field hockey teams. Well done!!

Looks like there there will be a change in the staff:
Mike Anthony ‏@ManthonyCourant 2h2 hours ago
Sources: UConn hockey associate head coach Mike Souza to be named associate, and head coach in waiting, under Umile at UNH. Souza a UNH alumMike Anthony ‏@ManthonyCourant 1h1 hour ago
Just spoke briefly to UConn coach Mike Cavanaugh, who had this to say when asked about Souza leaving his staff for UNH: "No comment."

This has been rumored for several days...glad for Mike Souza to be going back to his Alma Mater. He did a good job while he was here. It will be interesting to se who Cav brings in to replace Souza.

Wish nothing but the best for Souza. He is a quality individual and a solid hockey coach. Anxious to see who they bring in.
