Man, I thought our power play stunk until I looked at UAA's numbers. Both these teams also give up a lot of shorties...I counted 7 SHG's against UAA and 6 for UAF. Special teams has an opportunity to be a game changer when you have two teams this bad at it playing each other.
UAF has better individual offensive talent (although goals for is about the same as it is for UAA), but UAA has better goaltending. It'll be interesting to see who Dallas starts Friday for a must-win game. My guess is it'll be Davis Jones; Jenks has better numbers but Jones put forth a Herculean effort at last weekend Tech and has a little bit more experience. Also wondering if Tyler Morley finally returns, and if so how effective can he be.
One other interesting stat...UAF has played in 8 overtime games this season and only won once (1-3-4 in OT). We've also had three games decided with less than a minute in regulation (loss to Arizona State, win against Bowling Green, Friday loss last weekend at Tech). Since Friday is a must-win for UAF (if we tie or lose Friday, no playoffs), if that game goes to OT I could see some weird stuff happening, like pulling the goalie weird as mmf alluded to earlier. Especially since we could still win the Cup Saturday with a Friday loss (although it means no playoffs).
