Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

It was awfully close to "sold out" when I got mine, I was pretty surprised how few seats were available. Are they still blocking off the top balcony seating?

Yes, except for 6 rows at center ice on the penalty box side of the ice.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I think I know why... But I'll leave it at that...

Seriously though, ticketmaster's tournament package for both nights worked for a number of people I know of thus far. Sounds like a strong contingent of Fairbanks folks are planning to make the trip. Should be fun.
Is the "F U " lady showing up?

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I was able to buy tickets on Ticket Master for the Kendall, but had to buy the package for both days.

I know, the Fri and Sat links say they are "currently not on sale". Our friend only wanted to come on Saturday. Oh well.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Looking at the schedule, the first half is pretty rough with a ton of travel, and I say that knowing their usual travel.

After the Brice it's on the road to Maine (!), home against LSSU, on the road to Tech and Ferris, and then home to NMU before a week off. That's a lot of miles, against tough teams, with no time off.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I did get to the "what i love about our sophomores" earlier today and I've finished tonights recap a bit later than I wanted so that's all on the blog for anyone that is interested. The game tonight was pretty sweet ... I am trying to take it with a grain of salt thought ... Western's bench wasn't as deep as UAA's and they had a tough game up the road last night ... so they were prolly pretty tired.

All in all though, the Seawolves looked real sharp. Western didn't lie down for them.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Well, other than a bit of gong show first period, they played.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Something that deserves a lot more play is UAA athletes raising $1900 for Justin Woods. It is much appreciated for us fans on this side of the fence, and goes to show that no matter how much we claim to hate each other, after it's all said and done we are all Alaskans and we are all in it together. As they say at Texas A&M, good bull from the Seawolves.

(I'll resume loathing you now).

In other news: Quinn Sproule to the Aces!

From the Aces email:

" "Quinn brings a terrific set of elements that we're confident will fit our team identity," said Aces head coach Rob Murray. "We're excited about his skating ability and how his development progressed at UAA under current head coach Matt Thomas. It's an acquisition that makes sense and addresses our need for depth on the blueline."

Sproule, 24, skated in 138 career games for the University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA) in the last four seasons, collecting 25 points (5g-20a) and 89 penalty minutes. His career-high totals came as a 2011-12 sophomore when he earned 10 points (3g-7a) and seven assists, standing as the only Seawolf to suit up in all 36 games.

The Hussar, Alberta native was one of six players in the program last season to dress in all 38 games and he earned four assists while helping guide UAA to their third WCHA Final Five appearance in program history, and the second in his career.

Sproule originally agreed to terms with the Steelheads on July 3, 2014."

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Quinn should try to get a gig in Europe somewhere. Mobile blueliners with offensive abilities seem to always find a good place over there. Hopefully he'll impress someone at the AHL level during his time with the Aces.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Woody's article says live TV GCI channel 1 tomorrow and delayed 7pm GCI 1 on Saturday.
Anyone have a definitive answer straight from GCI?

Didn't see his article but last night I set both games up to record. The times on the cable guide match Woody's. Delayed for the mid size school HS football championship.

I think that happened last year as well. Just listen to Kurt!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Mantha looks like the real deal between the pipes. Big, athletic and a good guy.
Haven't got a look at D'Amico yet however both guys we've already seen appear more than capable.
This freshmen class as a whole looks like a break through group.
It's a great day to be a Seawolf!

I agree, I am impressed with the poise of Mantha. He controls his rebounds well and isn't out of position very often. I too am very impressed with our freshmen. Next years freshmen are looking good in juniors as well.
