Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

One last random ice/hockey rant and JJ/DD and that Seawolf dude can duke it out...

Welcome back DD...(i think). I missed your rants and analysis of the UAA games...hell, I even missed all your f#ck1ng F-Bombs! I am disapointed that you a JJ cotinue to act like complete *******s but hey, that's your f#ck1ng choice!

For my part, I harbor no ill will toward anyone regarding anything related to the blog (ok ... I still harbor ill will toward Ashley Reed). I @&$%ed the credential and nobody else. And honestly, I'm the least aware person I know with regard to other people's impressions (part of the reason I never saw the credential-pull coming until it happened). I was sorry that it messed up JJ's excellent contributions just as I was sorry that it messed up my plans for the blog. But that was two years ago; I'm focused on moving forward. It'll be clear in time that going forward the blog will be a wholly different entity. I detailed some of that in the post that I lost yesterday with the network error ... but I'll redo that sooner rather than later so everyone knows my intent. In a capsule, it'll be "professional" and something ANY Seawolf fan can embrace.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Coach was just getting to the arena as we were leaving ... around 2:00 I believe. The new scoreboard was covered up, but it is HUGE. Can't wait to see it in action.

What's the deal with the Meet & Greet? It's after the game? Maybe we want to re-think bringing the granddaughter then, could be too late for her. She had so much fun at the Green & Gold game last year, she kept asking me why the players were hitting each other into the window. LOL.

I believe the Green and Gold "Game" will feature a pre game skate with the ‘Wolves, some 5 on 5 and 3 on 3 interspersed with some skills competitions and free food. It will be fun to watch.

ANCHORAGE – The puck drops soon on the 2014-15 Alaska Anchorage hockey season and in preparation of the fun and excitement the new campaign brings, the team announced its promotional schedule Friday for the first three opening weeks.
The 2014-15 regular season officially starts Oct. 10-11 with the annual Kendall Hockey Classic, but Seawolf fans have two opportunities to see the Seawolves in action prior – the Green & Gold scrimmage on Sept. 26 and the exhibition game vs. Western Ontario on Oct. 4 – both at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

On Sept. 26 at 7:07 p.m., fans are invited to watch the Seawolves as they compete in an intrasquad contest as well as a series of competitions at no charge to the public. Throughout the period breaks, the team will go head-to-head in ‘fastest skater’ and ‘hardest shot’ competitions, before a shootout competition for the finale.
Additionally, UAA will host a ‘Skate with the Seawolves’ prior to the start of the scrimmage at 6 p.m. and then will conclude the evening with a “Meet & Greet” on the upper concourse level with the coaches and student-athletes. Team photos and autographs, along with food, will be made available to the public.

The following weekend, the Seawolves return to the WFSC for the exhibition game. UAA will take on Western Ontario in a traditional hockey game, starting at 7:15 p.m. All tickets are $10, with no discounts. Hockey schedule posters will be handed out.
Prior to the exhibition game, Seawolf fans are invited to Crossbar (2830 Ct St.) where they can meet and ask head coach Matt Thomas questions about the upcoming season. The event takes place at 1:30 p.m. and will go to 3 p.m.
The Seawolves then open the regular season at the Sullivan Arena with the Kendall Hockey Classic when they play Maine on Oct. 10 and Wisconsin on Oct. 11. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a hockey schedule magnet at Friday’s game, while the first 1,000 fans to walk through the doors for Saturday’s game will get a rally towel.

To cap off the weekend, the Seawolves will host the Seawolf Hall of Fame ceremony, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center, when former hockey player Tim Molle is inducted along with Peter Bullock and Eric Strabel.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Sept. 26 Skate with the Seawolves 6:30 p.m. at WFSC
Green & Gold scrimmage 7:15 p.m. at WFSC
Meet & Greet 9:30 p.m. at WFSC
Oct. 4 Meet Coach Thomas 1:30 – 3 p.m. at Crossbar
Exhibition vs. W. Ontario 7:07 p.m. at WFSC
Oct. 10-11 Kendall Hockey Classic Sullivan Arena
Oct. 12 Seawolf Hall of Fame 1 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Center

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Interested in others thoughts on the benefit of season tickets. Up until now I have been either too young to buy my own tickets or been a student pursuing one degree or another. This is the first year that I have to actually buy tickets. With that in mind I looked into season tickets thinking that would be the way to go. However looking at the cost it does not seem like that is the case.
Seats: $300 +$25 =$325 for the 16 home games vs 16 games x $10.50=$168
Parking: $250 for VIP or $150 for c lot parking vs. 16 games c lot parking x $6= $96

I see the benefit of getting to have the same seat every game but other than that I am coming up empty in regard to justifying the price difference.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Little nugget at the bottom of this article:
All of UAA’s home games in hockey, basketball and volleyball will be televised this school year, although they won’t be shown live in Anchorage or the Valley.

A deal between UAA, GCI and Denali Media will put the games on tape-delay in Anchorage and Mat-Su and live elsewhere in the state, the school announced this week.

Some home gymnastics meets will also be televised.

In Anchorage and the Valley, games will be rebroadcast on GCI cable channel 1, generally at 10 p.m. the night of the game, although times are subject to change, UAA said.
Coverage begins with Saturday night’s volleyball match between the Seawolves and Montana State-Billings.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I parked up there for years and years and years ... then they removed the long covered staircase.
Only thing that comes to mind is they want us to pay $6 to be less of a walk in the snow/slush/wind, whatever. Or does the U have that kind of power?

I am flying out of Bangor, Maine to support my team University Of Maine, ( there are about 24 of us flying out and staying in Anchorage for a few days. My question is this? Do you know when the Kendall Classic game tickets will go on sale.? Thanks and looking forward to some Alaska Seafood.

You may consider contacting Richard Tillman or Shawna Parker for information on group tickets purchases. You'll avoid the per ticket service fee going this route.

15th and Fairbanks is a good spot, if you don't mind walking up and down a fairly decent sloped hill.

On the off chance that someone missed the PR release for the Green & Gold scrimmage at the Wells Fargo sports complex on campus this Friday:
