Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Firstly, congrats to you guys for a superb game yesterday.

I was privileged to get to sit next to some great UAA fans at the FSU/MSU game tonight and they are probably some of the coolest hockey fans I have ever met. They definitely represented your team well and I am looking forward to playing you guys next year.

Nice. I saw a few UAA fans in the stands, but not many.

We represent haha! The loss to you guys kinda stings a little more since you guys lost to our "rival" MSU, how do you think this will affect your NCAA ranking?

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Quote from Seawolve Hockey e-mail:

"Show your Seawolf pride by welcoming home the UAA Hockey team at Ted Stevens International Airport. The team is set to arrive this Sunday, March 23th at 7pm on United flight 1425. Please wear your green and gold and show your support for the boys and their success this season. The Seawolves concluded the season with an 18-16-4 record – the program’s best since joining the WCHA – and their first winning season since 1992-93."
end quote

Hope we have a good turnout.
The team deserves it!
It's a new day and a great day to be a Seawolf!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

UAA beat the conference tournament champions from the WCHA, NCHC, and the Big Ten this season.

So we got that going for us...

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

It's going to be a long off season! At least we have our season passes for golf purchased. And Fishhook has 6 holes open already. :)

If you check the flight, they're coming about 35 minutes earlier

Charlie just announced this on the channel 2 news. He said the team is expected to be in a bit early as well. I hope a lot of fans can make it, we can't. :(

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

There was a good showing of fans to greet our Seawolves home!
The team came off in small groups due to seating arrangements.
As always they showed class by waiting at the top of the escalators as each small group came out.
These guys are a close knit group.
Coach did a TV interview and only then did they as a team proceed to the baggage claim area.
It's a new day and a great day to be a Seawolf!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

I thought I'd share my Awards and top moments from UAA's 2013-2014 season

MVP-Matt Bailey. One of the best players I've seen to don a Seawolf sweater, led team in points, goals, plus/minus, and I expect to see him in the NHL real soon

Rookie of the year-Brad Duwe. This was a toss up for me, originally I would've said Dylan Hubbs (don't get me wrong he had a great season too) but for Brad to come in as a walk on and end up playing on the 2nd line with Kwas and Tatchell in the 2nd half of the year, and just got better game after game. Plus he's joined the free pass club for scoring 2 gwg against uaf.

Most improved player-Ben Matthews. Another tough one, even though he only got in 11 or 12 games, he seemed to gain more confidence in each game he played in and won't be surprised if he gets more playing time next year.

top 5 moments
5. beating Denver in the brice in OT.
4. opening the season winning the kendall for a 3rd straight year with wins against Quinnipiac (#10 at the time and defending national runner up) and a win againt Air force with 3 seconds left.
3. Sweeping a very good Minnesota State squad in January.
2. Brett Cameron's GWG versus Lake St before Christmas (our first pre Christmas win in a long time)
1. Beating uaf back to back nights to head to the final five.

already looking forward to next season, my captain predictions for next year are

Brett Cameron with the C
Austin Coldwell, Chris Williams, & Scott Allen with the As

Have a great Summer everyone, get out and enjoy the weather while its good.
Go Seawolves.

I like this! I'd add one of the top moments was beating the Badgers in Wisconsin. I agree that Williams is captain material, I have no doubt he will wear the "C" during his time at UAA. Our freshmen surely didn't play like freshmen in the second half of the season. We should have a solid team next year. Can't wait!

Seawolf Fan, thanks for the heads up on what happened at the airport. Glad a lot of fans showed up. This was/is a special team.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Great season.
Thank you players no matter your playing time.
Huge thanks to Matt Thomas and UAA for the hiring.
Class act, the man thanks the outgoing coach for his recruiting. Very nice and showing respect to Dave S.
Thanks to the strong leadership brought to the rink by this years senior class.
Next years senior class is right in line with this years and should show up strong.
The year ended with the team showing some nice scoring from underclassmen, contributing like I'm sure they wanted to from the beginning.
It's another step in level of competing, junior hockey to NCAA Div 1.
Remember it and help your incoming freshmen.
Coach Thomas lays a nice foundation for some future success.
Good luck seniors wherever life takes you next, and thanks for your commitment to this team and community.
Mike

Very good wrap-up, like Suze said the win against Wisconsin should be mentioned, and personally the most improved is given to somebody that is a starter or became a starter. Rob Gunderson could be a very good canidate, Brad Duwe also, not to take anything away from your list though.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

We should be hearing some very exciting news about one of our guys soon!! :)
