Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

It's pretty evident that Talent and Coaching win's games and thats not the case these days and for that matter the last 4-5 years...no matter how we try to sugar coated there's a need for change come the end of the season...this Coach has not only lost the fans but the players...and they can say anything but...Rooting for the Players/Team...but the end has to come for TW behind the UM Hockey Bench. 3-3-1 and feels alot worst then that.

According to the radio broadcast BC had far more talent than Maine. Much quicker to the puck and they were able to close in quickly defensively. Maine had no time and space. Also, a team has to score more than 1 goal most of the time to win. Ouellette only allowed 1 goal when he came into the game in the 2nd period. Perhaps he will start tomorrow night against UNH. Very disappointing outcome.:(
Freshman line looked real good tonight. Parker is very fast and hits very hard and clean. Higgins plays with urgency. Need to get a stronger player with them. Lean is timid out there and hurting this line. 3rd line had some hustle tonight. Our first two lines got beat up and out hustled and out hit tonight.

I was at BC tonight. 2 maybe 3 very soft goals against tonight. BC kept pressure on our D tonight causing them to cough up the puck in our end numerous times. D looked horrible tonight and were our weakest link tonight.

That's pretty much what I heard on the radio. Maine's top line was turning the puck over, something one wouldn't expect. Did BC score on Maine's freshman line? Up until recently, the freshman line had not given up a goal.

They scored once due to defense coughing up puck in front of the net. Not forward fault. Bad pass by D to BC player who quickly shot puck in.

.this Coach has not only lost the fans but the players.

to quote MJ...... ding ding ding . we have a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why Abbott had to hand Blodgett the pink slip. It's not rocket science. UNH tommorrow will be just as bad, trust me!

I was hoping Whitey would match Trimper and Cozzy's success, but apparently that isn' the case

the D is not as much the weakest link as the coaching is.
Tim has NO idea how to coach defensemen. NONE

and if anyone was watching, ... the Forwards played like giant mites, 2 or 3 forwards on the puck, chasing loose pucks at all times. THere is absolutely NO point in having two forwards chase a loose puck into a corner from the high slot, just as there is no point in having 4 players on the puck on the high boards only to have Chris Kreider or Dumoulin just skate away with it... ONE player takes it from 4 senior Monarchs time after time after time.... at the very least, Dumoulin could have taken it away from ONE black bear and had NOBODY to pass to because maine would have had everyone covered... instead, he gets to take the puck away, have 5 black bears behind him and at least 3 team mates to pass to, wide open ALL THE FN time.

and if any of you could have heard the announcers for the BC broadcast... they though that their mics were off when the TV signal went to commercial... MAN, they were not charitable to Maine, saying how completely outclassed they were the entire game... then when they came back on, they would say that BC was really hustling and clearly got up for this game. THen they said how slow Diamond was and basically that he cannot skate with the big boys when they thought their miss were off.

interesting

Today was my wife's b-day. I made her a cake, cooked steaks and shrimp on the grill, and gave her on of those fruit bouquets. Everything was great. After dinner, I went to timmy hoho's to get a coffee and check out the progress of the game. 0-0 and Maine is going on the power play when we come back, you're listening to leerfield sports on.....I live two miles from tim hortons. Before I ordered, Abbott coughs up the puck to Krieder. Shortie number 4. Before I'm back on the main drag, BC scores again. Had enough of that sh*t. Back home. Digesting. We do the cake and ice cream for the kids. Head downstairs to check progress. 'BC to the PP when we come back.....' BC scores like what, 10 seconds in? Cr*st. We leave for Dysarts to have a piece of pie. Get home, turn on the radio in time to hear Dan and Larry extolling BC and condemning Maine for a lack of talent. I for one had, am having, and will continue to have a great night cause my old lady thinks I'm the shiz, and in no small part because I can now write-off the rest of the year. Thank-you Tim Whitehead. You are truely a wonder.

Not to pile on guys but it just doesn't look good for Maine.

Still a huge hole at goaltending. A few softies tonight. But there's just little talent out there on the ice at Maine these days at every position - which is a long-term problem that will take years for a new coach to fix. BC really did outclass Maine on the ice in every way.

We've seen some new coaches re-energize programs in the league already here and Toot and Timmay are on the chopping block next. Heck, look across the country and look at the newer coaches. UNO, WMU, MTU... WOW.

He can't recruit and sign them either! Maine has been getting zilch in the D recruit dept. It's freakin pitiful!

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

Recruiting is the life blood of college sports programs and it hasn't been good.

KIA hit the nail on the head in the scores thread:
"how good did people think a team of 2 guys from the USHL and a bunch of Manchester Junior Monarchs was gonna be?"

BTW, where is that moron Big Papa?

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

Another freakin shorthanded goal allowed. Makes my head explode just thinking about it.

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

Fourth line was great, fun to watch. Higgins and Leen impressed me actually. Third period was better. Whitehead should have started Ouellette, as he had been up until now, bad move in my opinion. Not as bad as the score would indicate, bears didn't start out with enough aggressiveness to counter BC, got better as the game went on though...

Nice post..!You have things in perspective. :D

Back to hockey: this abomination that is Maine hockey is actually not on Tim... It's on whatever body approved his ridiculous extension. (BOT..? Have no idea how that worked.)

Blake getting away with extending Tim a couple years back would be exactly analogous to the Sox giving Lackey 3 more years right now, if they were dumb enough to do that (ie, throwing money hand-over-fist down a rat-hole.) How that lame-duck AD got away with that is beyond me, and that sort of outrageous crap should never be allowed to happen again.

Lackey might possibly be the pitcher he once was someday, but, sadly, there is no Tommy John-type surgery available to fix Tim's chronic lack of hockey acumen. He will go down as the worst Maine hockey coach ever. (And that includes Semlar, who at least quickly exceeded expectations, and didn't inherit a d*** thing.)

A sure sign Maine is done, a pinhead isn't piling on, This means Maine is irrelevant and Timmay has finally ruined the program. Can anyone tell me why Timmay changed the goalie rotation? He handles players like crap.

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

I gotta admit, it was sad to see a Maine team not being able to even compete.
That was a pretty poor showing last night. Your boys look completely out of shape.
This BC team is very good, but has nowhere near the speed of some previous teams, and Maine couldn't keep up.
