I remember it wasn't quite that easy. To increase the drama didn't he miss her at the airport but she decided not to leave and went back to find him?

They stretched it out with that answering machine message where they wouldn't let her off the plane...which was dramatic because planes only fly one way across the Atlantic...

From a very positive review of last night's HIMYM episode:

Fair point, but I'd still argue that the series has taken too many turns and gotten lost too many times for Ted's story to really mean all that much at this point.

That would be a good analogy if Citizen Kane had been about 5 hours long and repeated itself at least 3 times.

The problem is that for the last 3 seasons it doesn't feel that the the majority of stories have been either critical in building towards the climax of Ted meeting the mother or even particularly very good as stand alone episodes.

HIMYM is like the girl who was a tease, at some point no matter how mind blowing the payoff is, the trip just becomes not worth it.

Has anyone been watching part two of season seven of Doctor Who? I've checked a few episodes with the new companion and I think she's quite good. I liked the one where they are trapped on a Russian sub with an Ice Warrior and the last episode with the redesigned Cybermen. Just wanted thoughts from the other Who fans on the board.

Anyone would be good compared to amy pond. Rory was awesome, but amy sucked.

No, she's a new girl, and not the best looking woman he's dated.
Am I the only one who thinks she looks a lot like Alyson Hannigan with brown hair?

Exactly. They took the story out way too far and there were too many times we thought the girl was the mother only for it to be yanked away at the last second. The show could have continued after they introduced the mother. It has been done. Couger Town is a good example because that show continued after she got married and there are no cougers on the show.

Obivously it had some double meaning at the start but the show is called Cougar Town because it was set in Gulfhaven, better known by its nickname, Cougar Town. That's because its high school football team is the Cougars.

If they ended the series with the wedding of Ted and the Mother no one would have complained that the show wasnt called how I married your mother.

Ted Meeting the mother in the last seen of the last episode was a great idea for a 4 or 5 season show, not a 9 season show.

Of course, he still hasn't met her yet.

Yeah, but I think Jenna Coleman is more attractive that Allison Hannigan. Even when she was in Buffy.

I actually liked Amy. She's not Donna Noble, but she didn't stink. Jenna Louise is awesome.

Ross chased Rachel to airport, said "I love you" (or equivalent). She stayed.

It could have been great if she said, "We are not meant to be" or "I don't love you that way" or whatever. Make it a total buzzkill. I'm an optimist, but for great tv? If THAT happened?! That would have been awesome. Total curve. Against all that network TV has done for years.

That is incorrect, he told her and she walked away. She got on the plane without telling him she loved him too and then called him before take off. she calls him and realizes she loves him, throws a tantrum to get off the plane (he hears all of this on a voicemail) and she shows up at his door and they get back together. It was pretty cool actually. Only thing that would have been better would have been Monica and Chandler breaking up because they ruined the show. i will admit they were not as bad as Joey and rachel though...wow what a horrid idea. ;)

As for HIMYM, the reveal was kinda lame but at least it stopped the lame "Robin/Ted" crap that had come back for the 25th time. Talk about filler. 1 more season to go...lets hope it ends in a good way :)

And most people believe it should not be a 9 season show ;)

Big time. I hated they kept going back to that when we all knew it wasn't going to happen. That horse died well over 2 seasons ago.

Of course, he still hasn't met her yet.

True but we know when and where they will meet so it's pretty much a foregone conclusion.

I know it was beaten to death but at the same time, how many of us have been hung up on a girl and just wouldn't let it go for far longer than our rational side knew made any sense at all? It seems quite appropriate, especially for a "best friend" that's still in your life.

And it would make perfect sense to tell your kids about every detail.

As if that part really makes any sense to begin with...This show wouldn't have much substance if they stuck with stuff legitimately meant for teen/preteen ears.
