Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

I'm not sure if that's it entirely though. I think the fact that Phillip had sex with another woman is truly hurtful to Elizabeth. They started out as two strangers, thrown together on a job, and expected to have sex with each other to produce children, cause that's what American couples do. And they knew that using sex with others would be a strong tactic to fulfill their goals.

But as the years have passed, they've grown to actually love and care about each other, to be a real family. I'm not sure if she knows he's screwing Martha, but if she does, she can accept that, cause that's part of the job. But screwing his old girlfriend, the past love of his life, went beyond that. Not business, but emotions, feelings. And that hurt her, because of the feelings she's developed for him.

It's a weird twist though, because she comes off as the more callous one not consumed by feelings and demonstrating that it's just part of the job. But she began to recognize she has feelings for Phillip and all of a sudden the 'trysts' of the job now bother her. I love this aspect because both characters are back and forth on this and struggle with their loyalty to Mother Russia, then toss in his growing affinity for America(ns) and it adds a brilliant dynamic to the entire story.

btw - as much as I enjoy The Following this is one show I would have been satisfied to see them wrap up in one season and not continue. Perhaps they will present reasons to remain compelled, but I can't at this point envision a realistic storyline in which it continues for a full 2nd season.

I do like the "America isn't so bad" undertones. I that complexity will come up in a big way in the future.

Season finale of The Walking Dead:

I'm less than impressed. The cold open with the Governor was great, but all his other scenes just fell flat with me. The battle at the prison, his "betrayal" afterwards, it just felt so toothless.

And while I thought it had some great suspense and some good character moments/closure for Andrea, her scenes (and ultimate death) were just a cherry on top of the sundae that was her misuse in the show.

I've never looked up the comic book version, are they following that story? That is how I've explained away the odd things like 2 people with assault rifles defeating a group of 30+ with superior fire power.

Of course, sneaking up on people while riding a chopper is also a head scratcher of a lesser level.

I thought the actress in the Andrea role was overdoing it most of the series...plus, she has killed 200 people in close quarters but gets bitten by that guy?

But, it's TV, if it all made sense it would be boring.

They are following the novels loosely. Some of the characters are much more fleshed out and some of the details are different. As for them defeating a superior group, none of them had any real experience in combat. As soon as the smoke bombs went off and the sirens began blaring, they panicked.

He parked the motorcycle next to the truck (amazing how clean that truck is, isn't it? Amazing what a sponsorship can do) and walked. :p

She was annoying and finally she's gone. She kept stopping and talking to Milton as he was dying. A smart person would have gotten free, then maybe talked to the guy....but a smart person would have killed the governor any of the dozens of times she had the chance.

Wil Wheaton tweeted out this message:
In a deleted scene, The Governor drives away, and launches his truck right over a zombie shark. He jumps it, if you will.

I don't think that's true. The writers have shown they have creativity and should still have a few tricks left.

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching an episode on DVR last week. This season has been great, I'm into it, enjoy it, etc. But if it goes to season 2, I'm about 95% sure I'll lose interest.

I hope they don't follow the Governor anymore. Just some point next season, Rick and the gang encounter a walker wearing an eyepatch.

Oh, I'm behind due to vacation and figured I could wrap it up in one rainy day sitting...agree, show isn't that good that I'll make a point to catch the next season, especially during football.

Was hard enough trying to recall which shaggy hair, scruffy guy was which on GOT.

Walking Dead

Didn't feel like a season finale. Other than Andrea dying, nothing really happened. She irked me anyway, so good riddance.

The way they hyped the scenes for the prison battle made me think that it would be epic in some way, although I figured that the group wouldn't be there. Was hoping that the Woodbury folks would get massacred in the tombs by walkers or something. My wife made the bold prediction that Lori-Zombie would finish the governor - THAT would have been sweet.

Instead, nothing although I did like the governor losing it and gunning down his entire "army."

Oh well, I still love the show, but last week's episode with Merle & Daryl and the one where Rick, Michonne & the little ***** go on a run and meet up with Morgan were far better than this season finale.

Carl, btw was starting to grow on me, but he's now back to being the most annoying character on the show.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

It's almost absurd how good of a show Justified is.

Wish it was on Netflix streaming. Looks like I'm gonna cave and get the discs. Oh well. Hockey season is almost over, which means my DVD watching will spike.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Americans: um, oops?

Didn't see that coming. Although a big twist had to be had. Ratings/move show REALLY forward, etc.

The miscommunication amongst the agencies is really spot-on, though. There is a thing as too much "chess" sometimes.

Watched the season finale of Justified tonight. Excellent end to the season. Loved it.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Psych was hilarious tonight, as usual.

"Ironic that I've had to use the bathroom the entire time I've been here." (as they're standing in a warehouse full of portajohns)

Anyone watch the 2 hour premiere of Rogue last night.

Gritty and left nada to the imagination.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Hey FX...it already sucks that you wait a week and a day to put the most current episodes of your shows up, so you can put the episode of The Americans from last week up anytime now...

My recording of Wednesday's The Americans ended as Stan was blowing the back off that KGB agent's head and he vomited his food everywhere. Anything happen after that?

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

MNS: no episode last week.

For the DVRers: FX screwed up and the ending didn't show up on many DVRs. This week's ep is online at the site, for free, in its entirety.

God that episode rocked! :)

Hey Brent, you are gonna love this season of Californication...I just watched the finale (a week early) and it was pretty awesome! I have a feeling next season is gonna be the last one and tie up a lot of the dangling threads :)

Glad to see it is ending. That is one show I don't want getting stale. :)
