Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Anyone catch the premiere of Hannibal? Really good, creepier than The Following. Although the Will Graham character seems to be closer to the psycho edge than I know from seeing Manhunter, but since I've never seen Red Dragon the whole way through, maybe that's just a continuation of that character. Or maybe since this is set before that time period, he just worked out those issues over the years.

Creepy, creepy Hannibal Lecter.

From what I remember of the book, Graham is supposed to be kind of like Lecter who doesn't kill people.

Was the girl found in the field just a one-off killing by Hannibal on his own? I know Graham was convinced it wasn't the same killer so...

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Apparently. Lecter killed her following the killer's general MO, but in such a clumsy, garish, exhibitionist way that Graham was convinced that they couldn't be the same guy, led him down the path of thinking what the killer wasn't, and so gave him a clearer picture of what the killer was, his motivations and reasoning.

I know Peterson's Graham in Manhunter was unstable, a little on the edge, depressed and worn out by what his gift did to him, but in Dancy's portrayal, Graham is just a step or two away from full-blown nutjob. May be closer to the books, I don't know.

Mad Men starts up again tonight. Cannot wait.

That is how I remember it as well...great book :)

Mad Men.....

Wow they threw a lot of stuff on the wall tonight.

Who the hell was that Julliard girl (Scarlet wondered the same thing on the tweeter machine)? Talk about coming out of nowhere. Quite the MacGuffin.

And Roger did exactly what I thought he would do. Be strong as a front, then snap in private.

Quite the episode to digest.

Mads Mikkelsen is a great choice for Hannibal. Creepy dude.

Yes. He cooked the lungs and fed them to graham. It was his way to get graham on the right track.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

I think Graham got real sausage in his eggs. Doubt it was the same for Hannibal.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Finally watching "House Of Cards" (Netflix only series, w/Kevin Spacey). Outstanding.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Watched the Californication season finale tonight. Hank, you're a ****ing idiot.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Ah, so nothing really changes, huh? ;)

No it is completely different...for once Hank makes the right decision. Of course the wrong decision was sort of like only winning $2 million dollars in the lottery ;)

I stand by my statement. ;) :D

Had some free time so I started watching this also (loved West Wing, so I figured I'd give this a go). Next thing I know I'm five episodes into it.yep, this one is good. Love his breaking of the fourth wall too.

Started watching Breaking Bad last week. Already burned through season one. What a great show. Now I see what ya'll were raving over. ;)

I described HOC to a friend: you think you see how deep the rabbit hole is....then realize you're still falling.....

As for BB...Season 3, last two eps.....tough to top in the series. Just a heads up, and no not gonna say why. :)

I may hold up and re-watch HoC with the wife. She may enjoy it as much as I have.

And she's been liking BB too. Saturday night after watching baseball and playing with the Apple TV she asked if I was finding more BB episodes to watch. Well okay then!

Once we get through these, then I may give Mad Men a whirl. Or Lost. Saw Borgias was on there too, but it's the Euro version.

Any other must see recommendations?

Mad Men: the first 3 seasons are slow, plodding, etc. It's ALL setup to get you familiar with EVERY character in depth. I almost gave up on it, glad I didn't.

The League, Sons Of Anarchy, and The Americans are the only other shows I watch. And I am picky. Dunno if you'd like them, just giving my reports.

I also watch Californication, but I just buy the DVDs blind.

I hope they don't follow the Governor anymore. Just some point next season, Rick and the gang encounter a walker wearing an eyepatch.

According to executive producer Gale Anne Hurd the Governor will be back in season 4 as a regular character. The other big news is that S4 will have another "fast forward" to advance the story and age the characters. Not sure how long the FF will be, but they are comparing it to "One Tree Hill" which apparently skipped 3-4 years.
