Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Finally caught this week's SOA. Fairly disappointing, for a lot of reasons that would be tedious to get into. Let's just say that this IRA nonsense has been going on for about two or three seasons too long.
The stuff with the IRA should have ended last season. I agree it's been dragging on waaaay too long...

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

All of those angles are interesting to me.

For right now, everything with Clay and the IRA just annoys me.

And where the hell is Bobby?

I think Bobby is preparing for his triumphant return to Charming, and Chibs will be joining him. /twocents

Walking Dead tonight.

They may as well outfit some of these Woodbury people with redshirts, Star Trek style.

Thought the Walking Dead was all over the place. I imagine they're trying to set up the story-lines, but was hard for me to get engaged with all the disparate story lines going on at once.

Thought Rick's encounter in the woods was out of place, but again, probably setting something up with the "you never come back" comment from the freaky lady.

Not complaining as I trust that the show will be great as always. Just underwhelmed with the opening episode.

I really should know better than to think logically about a zombie show based on a comic book...err...graphic novel;

But, that being said, where the fark are all the walkers coming from? They don't independently reproduce. Ricks group of a dozen or so has, by themselves, killed hundreds while losing a fraction of that. The one guy from the pilot episode has likely killed hundreds as well. You can reasonably infer Woodbury residents have killed 1000s.

So long as the kill to conversion rate remains that absurdly high, the walkers would disappear relatively quickly.

The population of Georgia is 10 million.

Also, I think we're about to find out the original virus has mutated (the pig) and has gone airborne (Harry Potter look-alike)

At some point, the zombies would have to decay into nothingness. But as you said, they're basing this on a comic book and those people aren't big on logic.

UNLESS, the Pig Virus is making new zombies. In which case I'm an idiot.

Yeah, but if every non-zombie kills 25+ zombies before dying/being converted to a zombie, the zombie population would still die out rather quickly after the initial population explosion. Especially in random isolated areas where they get picked off one by one before biting anything.

Are you guys really pointing out a plot hole in a TV show about zombies?

I can't meaningfully contribute to a conversation about Ink Masters or Sons of Anarchy, so sadly... yes.

I love that website so much.
I think the reason I enjoy Walking Dead so much is that I can't stand zombies and I enjoy watching them get destroyed.

Hasn't it always been airborne? Otherwise, how are all the still-living people carrying it?

We don't know. It could be assumed that a version of it is airborne, but it isn't fatal in its own right. It only impacts you after you are dead. This new version might be a more virulent form of the virus such that when you catch it, you gradually get sick until you die like the Harry Potter clone. If that's the case, groups like Rick's that congregate could be decimated.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

Or there is just a virus that has moved in. They kept going back to the pig, which makes me think H1N1 or some equivalent.

Re: TV Thread 9: The Walking Dead Americans are completely Justified to be Psyched

After watching it, I see: the killing part of the virus, originally transmitted by the bite of the zombie, now may be out in the open.I'm with soh though, and think it's just swine flu.

And he wasn't Harry Potter, he was the Rat from Fast Times.

There are two things that make me think I'm wrong.

1.) It seemed to happen very quickly. Most viruses aren't going to take you all the way down that fast. Maybe our perception of time is off though, which leads me to...

2.) It's too simple.
