Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

I thought pancakes on the head was tMeg?

As for Quiz - is she? ;)

Yes, the pancakes were on MEg's/tMeg's/MeanEgirl's head.

As for Quiz, she is an attractive woman, who is now married to the former poster known as Sloe Gin. Funny enough, they started their relationship when we three, and Bakunin/Santa Lucia/*hat (choose your fave moniker) went to Houghton for the first time in 2007, thanks to MEg's pestering on going up there.

3 episodes into ST2. Pretty much set up for where the rest of the season is going, though a couple of big questions still remain. Not sure about the purpose of some of the new characters yet. Hopefully they'll be explained.

The teenager subplot is a bore thus far. The rest is good.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Just saw ST2.1 so please be kind and wait for we slowpokes.

Two episodes of ST2 left. David Harbour is the man.

I just finished. Thought it was great. I loved one character transformation in particular, and I agree with all the reviews I read that there is one real clunker of an episode that didn't belong.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

The Gifted paid off big time in episode (4) so what I was worried about has been properly rectified. Love the show.

Gotham is the best show on TV IMO.

Blindspot came back. Formulaic but I'm still hooked. I bet this is the last season anyway. Could have easily quit after two cause the main storyline was done and what they did to reboot it this season was formulaic to say the least.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

HoC to be cancelled after the upcoming season.

It was on fumes anyway.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Just to clarify, that decision was made months ago and has nothing to do with the Kevin Spacey scandal.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

I read this before posting...

UPDATED with Netflix statement: As allegations of unwanted sexual advances in 1986 by Kevin Spacey against then-14-year-old Anthony Rapp have emerged, Netflix today decided to pull the plug on the Spacey-starring House of Cards after the upcoming sixth season next year.

Coming just more than 12 hours after Star Trek Discovery star Rapp first made public his allegations of what happened at a party at Spacey’s New York City apartment back in the mid-1980s, the streaming service made the official decision today, sources tell us. While Netflix and producers Media Rights Capital were leaning towards ending the show a while ago, key cast and creatives were only alerted this morning in a series of calls.

“Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey,” the companies said in a joint statement today. “In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”

Made it sound like the final decision was made today even if they were already leaning that way. Not sure if the source is credible or not.

Like I said, was running on fumes anyway and was time to end it.

Interesting, as I thought it was only scheduled for 4 seasons to begin with. I stopped at the start of S2 - so ridiculous he'd get away with two murders, especially with such an obvious one.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Huh. That changes things I guess. The article I had read made it seem like this was decided a while ago.

So I’m wondering. Is this all a big overreaction to something that happened 31 years ago and (hopefully) isn’t part of a pattern, wasn’t part of an aggressive coverup, and Spacey shows legitimate remorse?

Do the cast and crew really need to be made to feel “safe and supported?” It all seems a bit much.

If it comes out that this was part of a pattern and not an isolated incident where Spacey made an extremely poor decision, then obviously that changes things. Similar to the Paterno deal. When it came out Sandusky had pulled this **** for a long time, was obviously a predator, and that the school covered things up, I completely flipped.

But let’s say this was a single horrible decision. Do we cast him out because of it? Because it seems like this is what we do now. I’ve never done anything as bad as this, but I’m sure we’ve all done some pretty stupid and maybe horrible things in our lives. I’m sure we wouldn’t want to be judged by our actions 30 years prior.

I feel uneasy for even defending the guy on the fringes. Am I completely off base here?

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

You're not off base. And while I'd like to give Rapp the benefit of the doubt, is there proof? Is he remembering it exactly like it happened? Was Spacey drunk and therefore judgement impaired (like, was he blackout drunk)? I also feel uneasy even asking these questions, but if all it takes is an allegation (not a pattern of them) and then a person's career is THAT affected...

It will be interesting going forward.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

I have zero reason to doubt Rapp. Spacey didn’t even outright deny it. He said he doesn’t remember it and I think it was Rapp who said Spacey was extremely intoxicated. Probably a good chance cocaine was involved given it was the 80s.

So I’m not talking about whether this was true. I’m asking assume that it is true but a one time thing.

Re: TV: There She Is, The Old Radiation King

Just like drunk driving, that matters not.

I mean, if this is a one-time thing, it's not like we're having a Weinstein conversation here. Spacey may not remember it at all.

What dx just said.

And yes, Rapp said Spacey was acting drunk.

Pretty much. All I can say is, I'm sorry that I've lost most of my respect for an otherwise great actor. :(
