I found the second season of Orange is the New Black was terrible. It was a chore to finish...

The very end of it was great, but other than that, I tend to agree...the beginning is just weird.

How far back into HBO's history does HBO GO's catalog, well, go? I've never looked into installing the app even though I have HBO.

There's no Larry Sanders Show, no Mr. Show, no Kids in the Hall if you like comedy. I think pretty much all of the dramas are there(no Luck or John from Cincinnati, off the top of my head). Otherwise, pretty much everything you'd want is on there as far as series. I'm not sure I've ever watched HBO on my actual TV, but I use HBOGo pretty regularly. Like I said, it's worth it just for The Wire and Deadwood.

Glad somebody else felt this way. A real downer after the great first season.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

I liked The Newsroom.

It managed to be a great show and the worst show on television simultaneously, until the final season when it was just the worst show on television all the time.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

I still haven't seen this season yet. Too many things were going on.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Huh. I liked season 2. Not nearly as much as 1 but I wouldn't described it as a chore by any stretch.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

I liked season 3. Things felt a bit rushed because of the shortened run for the season, but I was entertained and not looking to take offense at every line given to a woman.

I assume you're talking about the Newsroom?

There's a fairly large contingent of people who actually beat off as they criticise the Newsroom. It's the only way they can get their jollies.

I got the same feeling from the people who were basically saying the following:

"SOA is too violent! It's basically a snuff piece! Oooo, hey, Game Of Thrones is on! GREAT show!"

;)

What was the name of that Johnny Carson bit, the All-Knowing, All-Seeing (insert name here)?

Thanks! It completely slipped my mind, could've been useful in a work conversation a little while ago. Very important stuff. :)

Is it worth getting into Homeland? Was able to get access to Showtime on my AppleTV (thanks a relatives super everything DirecTV package). This is on top of the HBO Go account I have thanks to my cable package.

So, because I'm lazy and find it easier to just play shows from the AppleTV, what are some recommendations of what to watch from HBO and Showtime?

The Wire
Homeland
...
???

one more to add: Dead Like Me (Showtime). It was only two seasons, but should've been more. It's basically the story of a young woman who dies in the first ten mintes or so of the show, is chosen to become a grim reaper (one of many reapers), and has to muddle her way through the job while "living" her afterlife, at the same also holding down a normal job in order to pay her bills - because reapers don't get paid. Mandy Patinkin plays her boss.

If it goes far back enough, I can't recommend "Brotherhood" (SHO) enough. Apparently similar to "Dead Like Me," this one lasted only 3 seasons, could've/should've been 1-2 more. LUCKILY, it somehow ended on a good closing note; the end of the series was unplanned by the writers. Plot is two brothers: one is a politician for the blue collar class of Irish Rhode Island, and the other is a career criminal. It focuses more on the politics side, IMO.
