Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Apparently so.

As for Maize, it seemed pretty apparent that Pruitt offered Mac the job and she took it, and then after told Will, who announced it to the group. In no way did he make the decision for her. Also, nobody decided anything for the woman who had been assaulted. Don ran some options by her, and his reasoning why he thought it wouldn't be a good idea, and in the end, decided he didn't want to put her on the show. As far as I know, that's his choice. She can still speak out however she feels like about her assault and the guy who assaulted her.

But I guess that's what happens when you're just looking for stuff to hate on, and not really paying attention to what's actually going on.

Speaking of Jeff Daniels singing, he and his son's band are gonna be appearing about 20 minutes away from me in January at a little 200 seat venue built in an old barn. Nice little get for up here in hicksville Maine. Probably will not go. Am thinking about going to Bruce Cockburn though.
IMDB user ratings for this season range from 8.9 to 9.5 for each episode. Season two runs from 8.1 to 9.1, again depending upon the episode. Season one scores run from 7.9 to 8.9. The aggregate rating for the show is 8.7. Given what we can see at IMDB, people watching the show without an agenda this season seem to have liked it the best, even bouying the scores of prior seasons.

That's must be why the show is over six episodes into the third season and Aaron Sorkin said he's quitting television for good. The show was just too successful and popular.

HBO begged him to come back to do the third season because the show was popular. Sorkin said that he's fed up with the pace at which television operates.

How dare you brings fact up...the Hipster then has to put in effort to hate it because he is required to think! ;)

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

So it is a guarantee the Old Hipster(Kepler) and the Young Hipster (Maize) will hate it since I agree with you? ;)

I prefer the term Young Beatnik to Old Hipster.

Didn't watch the finale -- the penultimate show was so wonderfully terrible that I want it to be Sorkin's aftertaste forever after.

But, for the record, I give the overall show a solid B, and the thing preventing it from being an A- wasn't a quality issue at all, it was just that it's the most sexist TV show, given its time, that has ever been made.

The other thing is: if you're going to call me a Hipster then it can't be because of watching Amazing Race and Survivor since hipsters are required by statute to hate all reality TV. I don't mind being insulted, it's inconsistency I object to.

"And I want to be really clear about this. Really clear about this. I've loved every minute I've spent in television. And I've had much more failure, as traditionally measured, than success in television. I've done four shows, and only one of them was The West Wing."

and the bottom of that article says it's SORKIN'S CHOICE

So, I'm a little confused.

Person Of Interest has a 3-part story arc they started last night. It isn't sweeps. It was really really good. Seems unusual to air it in December to me.

Well, he did have a choice. Either stop writing or they were going to toss his child in the showers...

Incorrect, I know plenty of Hipsters who watch stupid shows like that. (I lived in Seattle trust me I know Hipsters) They pretend they do it "ironically" or whatever but they watch them and enjoy talking about them. Their excuse is no more believable than yours sorry! Don't worry though shaving your handlebar mustache hides it well from the outside world! ;) :p

On a completely different note: I have watched Season 1 of Veep...can someone convince me why I should watch Seasons 2 and 3 because right now the show seems rather dumb. Outside of Anna Chlumsky everyone on the show seems to be playing the same character they play in everything else only with more swear words.

Anyone watching The Mystery of Oak Island on the History Channel? Came a cross a marathon of this season's shows yesterday, and just couldn't change the channel. I think I'm hooked. On a reality show. :(

It's such a frustrating show to watch, they spend so much time repeating the same historical stuff over and over and over again. I guess thats what happens when you need to stretch things to get a season out of it. Bigblue_dl informed me that Marty Lagina is a Michigan Tech grad...
As frustrating as it is, I can't help but want to know if there is treasure there. The best way to watch is via dvr to skip as much crap as you can.

Yeah, my wife and I watch it. I don't really consider it a reality show, as it is in a pretty different vein than what I'd consider reality TV to be. It is more like a serial documentary. I share many of the frustrations that Shirtless mentioned, they spend too much time rehashing stuff they've already told us, and the actual progress that they make is spread out over too many episodes, but that is what you get with this kind of format.

There has to be something on that **** island. There is just too much smoke for there to not be a fire. I am not thinking that it is something crazy like the Temple Treasure, or lost manuscripts of Shakespeare, like some of the theories claim. My guess is that there is buried pirate loot on the island.

As Shirtless mentioned, my wife and I were watching, and I noticed that one of the guys was wearing a hat with the picture of the UP on it. I thought to myself....engineer, from the UP, what are the odds he DIDN'T go to Tech. Did a quick google search and found that Marty is a Tech Alum and currently on the Michigan Tech board of control.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Yeah, if it's true that there were wooden platforms every ten feet, and actual flood tunnels to the pit, there has to be something there. But someone with a bit of engineering skill had to devise such an elaborate setup, not sure if pirates had that skill, or the time to create something so technical.

And if the flooding is just a natural phenomena, and the wooden platforms just the stuff of legend, it's gonna be a huge disappointment. Hopefullty they'll get somewhere by draining the swamp.

Pirates were very skilled and had lots of free time. Didn't you ever watch The Goonies?

I gave up on that show after about 2 eps. Too frustrating and bullsh* stuff being shown. And I am VERY curious about Oak Island.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

NCIS has become a bit stale, formulaic, predictable, only watch it sporadically these days. Very surprised with this past Tuesday's episode: they deviated from the typical formula and actually put together a show that kept my interest throughout. Great plot twist at the end pulled it all together perfectly.
