If the ending wasn't so predictable (everything comes full circle), it would have been better, sure. The way it was TOLD, though...that's what matters. And I liked it. It wasn't great, it wasn't average, it was just solid. I mean, you go into your standard action movie, and I bet the good guy wins. ;)

Liked that it was the same truck driver. Nice little twist there.

Overall, I think this show will age well with time. That's a big plus for a series. Will it ever be a top ten? Probably not, and I'm fine with that. I don't think the average viewer would disagree. I liked it quite a bit, and for me that all that matters, obviously.

I think Chibs really shined this season, as the backbone, kind of replacing Bobby (who was the backbone of the old guard, re: Clay). Chibs' character really balanced advisor/parental figure/brother/follower quite well.

I love the 30 for 30's.

The Band that wouldn't Die was great. Loved the Jimmy the Greek one. Pony Excess was great. I really like Once Brothers.

The one about Martina and Chris Everett was good because it was so surprising how absolutely close they were when it seemed like they hated each other. Ghosts of Old Miss, Roll Tide / War Eagle, Catching Hell, Unguarded. There are probably only a handful that I won't watch again if I stumble across them while channel surfing.

Big Shot was amazing, the story of the guy who almost duped the NHL into letting him buy the Islanders when he had almost no money.

Finished it yesterday. In summary, it was good, but not great. At the same time, I don't know how else they could have ended it, given what had happened earlier this season and in past seasons.

As a whole it all made sense, and it tied up the story well enough. It was a bit too much with the truck driver guy, I thought, didn't need that little extra layer. Still don't know what the deal is with the homeless lady, I must have missed something there. I guess, I always expected Jax to die in the end, I just wish he would have gone in a different way. Maybe it would have set better with me if his brothers would have actually killed him, or if it went to the black screen as he was riding away on the bike, with the cops following. Another way would have been having Nero kill him, and the raise his kids.

Maybe the finale was fine, and there are just other things about the last 2 seasons that are nagging at me that cloud it. I still think that this series would have been better served to be 1, maybe 2 seasons shorter, with the same general storyline. And I will stand my annoyance with the way-too-many monages to start/end episodes. Every once in a while, no big deal, but every episode, just didn't work for me.

Where's Scarlet to handicap the Golden Globes for us?

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

I think the homeless lady was a guardian angel of sorts.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Not reading all of that ^

Seems to be a lot of chatter in here. Haven't seen the series finale yet and probably can't get to it till Saturday at the soonest.

The boy had a game Tuesday, I played last night, the boy has a game tonight, hockey team party tomorrow and the boy has a game Saturday night.

Oh yeah, and I play Sunday night... Ugh. Hockey season.

Wouldn't trade it for the world. :D

Probably have to watch it Saturday during the day.

The one about Jimmy Connors was amazing. It's been 23 years and Connors STILL hasn't talked to Aaron Krickstein since that magical round of 16 match.

Yeah that was a good one...he makes no bones about it he is a complete jerk.

SJHovey,

I just watched the Martina/Chris Everett one...that is an awesome story. When they talk about how they would practice in the afternoon with each other and then face each other later on in the finals...such an odd little story but cool.

Sutter addressed it during the Anarchy Afterword show following the finale. He said she's whatever the viewer wants her to be. I'm thinking along the same lines that she was a conscious/guardian angel of sorts.

That was a great one. I forgot about it. I remember telling a friend of mine afterwards that Connors just comes across as a jerk. Highly competitive, obviously talented, but probably not a guy I would want to spend tons of time with.

The other 30 for 30 I forgot about that I really loved was Free Spirits, about the St. Louis professional basketball team.

The story of the merging of the ABA into the NBA, and the deal the St. Louis owners cut was astounding. I loved the comment from the guy near the end who said that deal wasn't just the greatest deal ever made in the history of the NBA. It was maybe the best deal ever cut in business, period. I think he's right.

Edit.

Huh, I guess that makes sense.

I've been thinking about the ending some more and why it didn't hit completely with me (like I said, I thought it was good, not great). Maybe because it didn't have any twists? But that shouldn't matter, you can have a great ending without any twists. I just can't place it. It might just go back to what we've discussed previously, that it has gotten to the point where I just don't care about the characters anymore, so nothing they do can really hit me hard.

I was reading up on that deal, unbelievable...over $800 million dollars in TV money for not getting a team in the NBA.

I wonder what the old Kentucky Colonels owner thinks. Each was offered $3 million. He took it. The Spirit owners passed, and negotiated a deal where they got $2.2 million plus a portion of the (then) meager visual media rights in perpetuity for the Nets, Spurs, Pacers and Nuggets. Hilarious.

Haven't read any others' comments... will do that later.

Guess I was a whole lot more emotionally invested than I realized.

Stunningly amazing ending.

Wow... just... wow...

Legendary outlaw ending.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Ha!

Who'd have thought I'd like it more than everyone else? :D

Sure, it was predictable (wife called it exactly when he put on his dad's boots), but like Hoven said, it was well executed, imo.

I loved it.

Doesn't make up completely for making me slog through the last two seasons (especially this one), but was a satisfying cap to the epic for me.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Sutter just isn't good at misdirection, and I think it robs some of his big moments of their power.

Like the non-execution of Jax where they shoot Happy instead. Kind of funny how Tig and Happy still have to hold Jax despite knowing what's about to go down.
