Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I enjoy the American one, but the BBC one is much much better.

I really struggle to watch the American version. Perhaps if I had never seen the British version it wouldn't be that bad, but the hosts just aren't even close to the same league as the Brits.

I agree. American Top Gear is decent for what it is, but like you said. No one can hold a candle to Clarkson, Hammond and May.

HIMYM was interesting this week. The whole Ted feeling bad for himself schtick is annoying, but the Barney thing was mildly entertaining.

I thought it was one of the better episodes, it gave some character growth and self-realization (or at least the writers realized that the needed a way out of the corner that they had written themselves into) by moving Lily and Marshall back into the city and having Ted realize that he needs to move out of the apartment. I wonder where they are going to take the barney/quinn story line, significant potential but I'm sure that they can squander it.

If you believe the show's publicists from last spring, Barney's wedding is supposed to close out this season.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Depends on who he marries and how they get to that point.
Very true, but there's only so much season left. To introduce yet another woman this late in the season, and have the erstwhile perpetual bachelor fall in love yet again, is just really pushing it too much.

It's more a question of does Barney end up with Quinn or with Robin. If it is with Robin how to they bring the two together and if it is not what is Robin's reaction to the news? Tons of potential depending on where the writers go with it. Monday's eposode really opened up the options for the rest of the season.

On a unrelated note, I really liked last nights White Collar season 3 finale.

That show is so good overall. I really like what they've done in three seasons. I can't wait to see what they do with things this summer.

I really like the original shows that USA puts out and if they did a better job of putting shows on the website I would seriously consider dropping basic cable.

Yes, USA original programming makes up a huge portion of what takes up space on my DVR. They've been on a roll for quite awhile. Psych, Burn Notice and White Collar are great, not to mention some of their other shows like Suits and Royal Pains.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I love White Collar, Psych, and Royal Pains, and I've enjoyed what I've seen of USA's other shows. They really do a good job with those. Unfortunately, I'm stuck watching episodes when they finally show up on Hulu about a month after air!

They are about 2 or 3 weeks behind getting the shows up on their website, which is very annoying.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Very few times has a Survivor team done what the men did last night: vote off the strong sociopath with the first vote. Talking with my wife later we wondered whether it's because they know challenges won't be brute force because that would be unfair.

Anyway, other than getting rid of Colton, which appears impossible short of an actual hanging, that was the most satisfying tribal I could imagine.

It was pretty funny to see someone think he made some great deals, only to do the dealing so pathetically that he was first to be voted out.

Colton- he's WAY to comfortable. You can see his reactions that he thinks he's in charge. Which violates rule #1 on Survivor, if you are SURE you are in charge, you will be voted off by a blindside. He's cooked.

The women are a little frustrating right now- I know it's super uncomfortable, but that's no reason why you can't add to your shelter every chance you get. Block wind, and that will warm you up SO much. OTOH, it was great to see them get food right away with the reward. It's not as if their days are so filled with things to do- I *think* (don't know) that I would be so bored that I would look for things to do, and working on the house would be one of them.

The guys think they have a plan, but when they struggled, it was clear they do not. Previews imply that it's worse than it appears, but we will see- last week's previews implied that the women would be in a far, far deeper hole this week, and they end up winning two challenges.

I'm sorry, but I really thought this week was lame. I think I laughed once - when Robin first started writing in the diary. The furniture jokes were telegraphed a mile away. And Barney's desperation was just painful to watch.

Painful, but also funny because it's BARNEY STINSON and he of all people should know that when a stripper tells you that she's going to break the rules just this once and go out with you, she's lying through her teeth to get you to give her money.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Watched about the first 5-6 eps of that show last night. So far, Barney is the only funny thing about it, really. Tell me it gets better.
