Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Looks like Alcatraz is running two episodes tonight - the one from last week that was pre-empted by the Daytone 500 and the regular one for this week.

did you stick with 'Luck'?

starting to get interesting with the kid now being hired by both sides...and Ace knowing that would happen; you get the feeling that this is going to come down to luck with all of the marbles at stake, everybody is trying to make luck fall their way...i hope the writers have this worked out

ps: I liked the line..."you feel sick?, that is because you are an honest man, so far"

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Yes, it was. "I think she's saying "Suck it Gus!"

Henry: He cried at Benji: The Hunted...
Shawn: That is because he was hunted!
Henry: He is afraid of racoons...
Shawn: That is because they are terrifying and wear little masks!
Gus: They are...

Shawn: Oh my god GUS IS GONNA DIE!!
Gus: I am not gonna die Shawn...
Shawn: YOU ARE! And soon! And definitely before me if statistics prove correct...
Gus: (crying)
Shawn: Which is so wrong since I am practically asking for it!
Gus: People are gonna miss me so much :(

Pretty good episode of The Walking Dead last night. While I'll miss Dale, he was getting annoying.

I'm really hoping Carl gets beat with a belt or something, and soon. His actions and attitude as of late is getting on my last nerve. And as far as I'm concerned, Lori can get devoured by a zombie at any point and I won't shed a tear. Rick could just do the group a huge favor and get rid of his family, and everyone would be better off for it. Those two have caused more trouble for the group than anyone else.

Walking Dead

Anyone else want to choke Carl out?

He looks just like DJ from Roseanne, btw.

Not sure I'm buying the Carl story line. If you're a parent in this situation, is your kid going ANYWHERE without an armed adult present? Into the woods by himself after what happened to Sophia?

If the adult males are about to execute someone, wouldn't you have your pre-teen son somewhere out of earshot and make sure that he can't come anywhere near the scene of the execution? He just wanders in as it's about to happen?

I realize that horror movies/shows are built around people making stupid decisions (that the audience can see as stupid) that put themselves in risky situations (which often lead to death), but the whole Carl thing is unfortunately bad writing for a show that I thought was better than that.

Also, Dale walking out to the field by himself without being ready for anything was pretty ridiculous. If I'm wandering a farm field at night after a zombie apocalypse, I've got my gun on my hip with the safety off.

And why would anyone in this situation sleep in a tent? Wouldn't you at least be in the barn which you could fortify?

I really like the show, but there are more and more holes in the plot.

Awesome. Thanks for the info!

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

agree on most of the WD comments

They are starting to create situations just for the sake of it...the "we have to kill the kid because we can't think of anything else" story doesn't make any sense to me. They tried to hard to have a convenient answer for everything and create Dale's case for him.

Agree on the son wondering around and then showing up in the open door of a barn as they prepare to execute somebody. If they wanted him dead then send the two crazy guys to do it a mile from the house, they won't come back with him, that is for sure.

And I don't care how much people want to be on their own, nobody is sleeping by themselves with their chopper away from the house when there are zombie cannibals roaming around...neighbors might not be right next door but there are still bound to be zombies walking around, such as the guy in the mud. I get it on Flight of Phoenix etc. but when there are people trying to eat you, you probably are less worried about not fitting in with the crowd and having a little space.

Maybe they watched too many M. Night Shyalaman movies before they wrote season II.

They have done nothing to fortify the house either...what is their plan if they are attacked? They couldn't even find the bag of guns and ammo.

Good thing is they have an endless supply of food.

No, I gave it up. I watch too much as it is and I was really having a hard time keeping up with it.

RE: The Walking Dead

The farm hasn't been fortified because Herschel and family have never been attacked. They think the farm is an impenetrable refuge away from everything. The group hasn't fortified anything because they weren't supposed to stay after Carl recovered from his wounds. Herschel expected them to leave, I doubt he would have allowed them to fortify things. Remember, he didn't even want anyone to carry a gun. Likewise, the group couldn't sleep in the house because Herschel and family lived there and the group weren't welcome (well, except maybe Glen) and the barn was kinda occupied. I'm not all that keen on sleeping in a tent NOW, much less after a zombie apocalypse, but they don't have a lot of options. And Daryl isn't exactly your average Joe. It's not that hard to imagine he thinks it is safer on his own. He said as much last night. I just wonder if he's going to be in great need of a gun, reach into that pouch and not find it because Carl dropped it in the woods.

It is strange that Carl was allowed to just wander in when his dad was preparing to execute the kid, but it isn't like this is the most organized group or that they have done this kind of thing before. Also, didn't Lori send him to the house? His dad wouldn't be expecting his kid to be anywhere nearby. I also thought they were supposed to hang him, not shoot him in the head.

Dale let his guard down for a few minutes and it cost him his life. You can't be on your guard 24/7 for an extended period of time...you'll lose it. Of course, if Carl had shot that walker when it was stuck in the mud and he had a point blank shot, Dale would still be with us. That thought should haunt the kid, and no one else knows about it.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

fair enough, but they are having a big argument and then deciding to kill a kid because they are worried about being attacked...even Herschel, after the trip to the town, would likely have agreed to some plan, such as at least knowing where the guns and ammo are. they eat in the house, they meet in the house but sleep outside, that isn't consistent to me...seems to me the writers were more comfortable with the initial post-event hysteria but are having a tough time fitting the rest of the story together. granted, they probably have very little real experience with zombies roaming the earth trying to eat people so they are just following the comic book as best they can adapt it.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Ok, plowed through 4-5 more eps of HIMYM. It's getting a little better, but I don't think it'll reach "really good" status in my eyes. It'll be a good afternoon-killer. Barney still being the exception, of course.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Well.....Alcatraz kinda kicked it up a notch.....I like it.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

FOX cancels Terra Nova, being shopped to other netowrks.

Alcatraz and The Finder may be next on the chopping block.

I really hope you're wrong. :(

Alcatraz posted its largest three-day increase (+56%) so far this season, up three points from a week ago and +24 points ahead of its prior 2011/12 average lift (+32%). http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...-date-fox-live3-day-mon-thu-220-22312/122441/ (dated late February)

The latest I read was that, yes, Alcatraz was 4th, but to cancel it? Who's gonna take on the leaders in that time slot (The Voice)? http://www.hitfix.com/articles/tv-ratings-smash-voice-rise-against-reduced-monday-competition

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I think The Finder has been awesome. It's kinda whimsical and lighthearted, just a good bit of goofy fun, and I like that as an alternative to so much else I watch. It's got a bit of that Psyche vibe. Always liked Michael Clarke Duncan, and Geoff Stultz has been really good in this.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Ink Master finale right now.

2 6-hour sessions, with basically a freestyle. The artists are given a tattoo to do, that fit their tattoo style profiles. Whoa.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I just went from watching Band of Brothers on DVD to watching the new episode of Justified...talk about the same actor, completely different roles!

That was just for starters. Now it's a 6 hour of whatever the hell the artists wanna tattoo! This is intense!
