Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I thought it was one of the better episodes, it gave some character growth and self-realization (or at least the writers realized that the needed a way out of the corner that they had written themselves into) by moving Lily and Marshall back into the city and having Ted realize that he needs to move out of the apartment. I wonder where they are going to take the barney/quinn story line, significant potential but I'm sure that they can squander it.

I agree with you, do like the way they have developed the characters, it mirrors real life more them alot of show I think. They have gone from their 20's to maturing into their 30's and changing their look at life, and still have some humor. I for one have really enjoyed this season and have made it one of the shows I can't miss now.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Watched about the first 5-6 eps of that show last night. So far, Barney is the only funny thing about it, really. Tell me it gets better.
Depends. Which season?

As with most good sitcoms, the early shows are weak and the last few seasons have been awful, but there was a sweet spot where the show (and not just Barney) was funny.

Community sucked the first 5-6 episodes too.

My experience is that if you have watched the first 5 or 6 eps of a show and you don't want to see more than the show just isn't for you.

Awake? That is one that I haven't even heard of. What was it about and what channel is it on?

NBC Thursdays.

It's about a detective who is in a car accident with his wife and son. One day he wakes up and the wife survived while the son died, the next day he wakes up and the son survived while the wife died. Clues from the two realities cross over as he investigates cases (with two different partners) as well.

Edit: If I wasn't clear, the two realities keep switching off, day after day.

Modern Family was great as usual this week. Loved the little details like the guy who was the scarecrow being stupid.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Battle of the Exes is not as bad as the other "Road Rules" / "Real World" / crossover challenges have been.

If you don't know what this bizarre meta-reality show is about, here is a primer. Eventually there will be a show spun off of this show, like, say, T. J. Lavin vs The Philiminator vs Peachy, and then the universe will be swallowed up in a singularity.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I thought the Awake pilot was pretty good.

I agree. I hadn't heard anything about this show and just stumbled upon it last night and thought it was unique even with the subtle undertones from Inception. I especially like both pscychologists and how they are fighting for supremacy in the alternate realities. The show has real potential. Here's hoping the writers don't screw it up.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Psych was awesome last night! :)

Yes, it was. "I think she's saying "Suck it Gus!"

That, and the fight between the two, the tour guide at the mansion, and of course, Desperaux, made it a hysterical episode.

other shows, The River had maybe it's best episode yet, Person of Interest last week was excellent, Revenge has been ok. They really weaselled their way out of that corner they painted themselves into, though.,

Yeah, I think they were setting things up to end it after 13 episodes in case they got the ax, feels as if they didn't really have a plan for actually being a successful show and going a full season.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Kudos to TCM for showing Logan's Run. If that aint a classic, I don't know what is. :)

They showed that during the 31 Days of Oscar (yes, it actually won an Oscar)

I do wonder how those people, who had everything handed to them and lived a life of leisure, would fare. I figure most of them would be dead within a month :p

On a TV related note, I fell asleep with the Godfather Saga on last night and awake to find the pilot episode of "The Killing." Looks like they're going to air the first season episodes two-at-a-time until the season premiere in April. Looks pretty good.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I don't know whether I should be happy or scared, but here goes.

My niece is having her birthday soon and my little brother suggested that she wants a gumball machine. My wife and I were looking at some and I reached for a red one. She immediately says "Don't get the red one because you'll keep it for yourself and try to make Tom Servo out of it." I felt like a kicked puppy, but I chuckled to myself at the fact she knows me so well.

Did you reach for a second one?

That reminds me of this:

Did you reach for a second one?

I did. I used to have a Servo replica on my desk when I worked as Traffic/News Director at the campus station in Oswego. However, during a school break... one of the cleaning people bumped it and it broke. I've been looking for a replacement ever since that day.

Thanks, that was pretty great! While I felt badly for Conan with the way NBC did things, I really have enjoyed Late Night as the new Tonight Show tv host. I'm looking forward to getting tv back and watching again. (Wonder how Max felt playing on what was Conan's show?)

Looks like Alcatraz is running two episodes tonight - the one from last week that was pre-empted by the Daytone 500 and the regular one for this week.
