Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I forget the name, but the newly arriving ripoff of Bosom Buddies looks like it might be the worst sitcom since, well, at least as far back as 2 Broke Girls anyway.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Ouch, and a double deal game, too! Of course, that show was so darn desperate that they had half the cases worth $1,000,000, and they STILL couldn't give it away!

Anyone remember the show "Treasure Hunt" with Geoff Edwards and the bonded security guard?

I think I remember that one. But I really liked "Take the Money and Run." The concept was great. They did put a bunch of morons on that show as contestants which made it very predictable. Still was fun to watch for a little while.

I don't mind 2 Broke Girls. Not the best show, but I think it should survive. But I like Whitney better than that show. Wonder if that one will last because it constantly gets ripped by the media. Fortunately that doesn't always mean anything because American Dad has been on for years.

The new season of Archer starts in January...and the 2nd season comes out on DVD on Tuesday. Already planning on watching 1st and 2nd season over my Christmas break.

Also...this could be one of the greatest things ever.

Archer is great but I'm getting tired of them only doing 6 episodes at a time. How hard is it to animate "Lana? Lana? Lana? Lana? ..." for a hundred frames?

American Dad has been funnier than Family Guy for AGES. Plus it has Booger!

Take the Money and Run didn't really work because it needed a prisoner's dilemma-type scenario to make things more interesting. It's not that hard to sit in a prison cell for 12 hours or whatever they had to do, especially when you know it's for a finite amount of time, and that you get a lot of money at the end. All the contestants on that show were failed actors, and I think they treated it like an audition where they might land a big role if they gave a convincing enough breakdown.

American Dad is actually the most critically-acclaimed of the Seth MacFarlane shows(very small praise). I don't watch it often, but it's the only one of the three I could sit through for an entire episode.

I guess that 3 part series in September was a special thing but is being considered part of the 3rd season (hoping they do end up on the season 3 dvd since I havent seen them). There are 13 more episodes set to premeir in January. Season 1 did only have 10 episodes and I think season 2 was the same..10 or so. It is dissapointing when a show that funny only has that few episodes while other crappy shows are given the full 20+.

Oh and I will side with jmh on this one. Cleveland show sucks. I watch Family Guy but dont go out of my way to make sure I see it...but American Dad (at least the latter seasons) is waaayyy better than Family Guy.

Speaking of the fox sunday night stuff. I did read that Bob's Burgers (which I find hilarious) is supposed to be coming back mid-season I guess.

Season 1 of Archer had 10 episodes, 9 of which aired in consecutive weeks. Season 2 had 13 episodes, all of which aired in consecutive weeks. Season 3 will have 16 episodes (counting the Heart of Archness arc), 13 of which will presumably air in consecutive weeks. Not sure I get the criticism.

HBO pulled the plug on Hung, Bored To Death and How To Make It In America. Is someone who works in programming at HBO angry at me?

Saw that was the top trending story on yahoo a bit ago. A lot of people are confused by this especially considering they decided to renew Enlightened which apparently was not as popular as the ones that were cancelled. I havent seen Hung or Bored to Death yet. Both are on my netflix list. How is How To Make It In America?

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I watched a couple of episodes of Enlightened and I thought it sucked. Bored To Death was very good, Hung had really funny moments, How To Make It In America you could skip.

That makes sense. I never understood what the issue was about keeping a lie together for 48 hours.

Really? American Dad? I guess I haven't been keeping up because I knew it was savaged in the early years. I just figured Fox didn't want to cancel another McFarlane show due to the backlash from canceling Family Guy the first time. Cleveland Show will likely stop their thinking about that. No way it can last much longer.

Huh. I would have sworn they released them in packs of 6, and then there was fairly significant time until the next pack. I even thought I had read this was a deliberate gambit on the part of the production company (Williams?) and had something to do with the way distribution contracts work.

But if those numbers are right I'm just flat out wrong / thinking of some other show.

BTW, I'm not being critical of Archer at all -- I love it; I just want more of it.
