Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Caught the first three episodes of the Brit show "Sherlock." It's pretty good, though I liked it better when it was called "House."

Odd, I liked the character House when he was first called Sherlock.

And you gotta figure those two know a lot about pretty much everything if they're going to be able to make that assessment about what's inside, and how valuable it might be, to make that judgement after just a quick look from a distance. Really must have spent a lot of time on their homework.
I heard on the radio those two guys saying while promoting their show that something like 80% of their units are pretty boring and either break even or lose money. The only ones on the show are the big, exciting wins they have.

Oh, that's exactly it. I had no wrong impressions on that. In a "business" like that? You miss most of the time. It's very similar to collecting something (in my case, sports cards back in the day). You take a ton of chances, and if you hit, you just hope to hit big. You miss often, though.

Doing some digging, and it appears Breaking Bad Season 4 will be released in Australia in mid-March, so the US release should be close to that.

Mad Men Season 5 starts on March 16.

Californication Season 5 starts next weekend (and SHO is having a free preview that weekend, also).

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Once Upon a Time didn't turn out so well. I liked the premise and the first few episodes, but it's settled into its demographic (teenage girls and middle aged women who wish they were still teenage girls) and has become Disney Princess Vampire Diaries.

Southland will be back on Jan 17th. Hope they do more than 3 episodes for once.

I should probably blame myself for watching in the first place, but Chelsea and Happy Endings are far worse than I ever imagined.

I'm glad I never gave Chelsea a shot, but I tried watching Happy Endings and agree completely. Horrible, horrible show. Should be cancelled immediately.

I can't even stand Handler's E! show, so there's no way in hell I'm watching whatever crap she's wasting Laura Prepon on.

Netflix has (only) the first season of Poirot on streaming. A+, but annoyingly quick (10 episodes... we want more!)

Interesting to compare how Ms. Lemon is very different in the early episodes. They couldn't decide whether to make her a flapper or Sarah Jane or Mrs. Hudson.

I think Happy Endings is hysterical. It's also a huge hit for ABC, so much so that it is pushing out Cougar Town, which bums me out because I really like Cougar Town.

My brother worked on Are You There Chelsea for one of the episodes, filling in for someone, and he was thrilled it wasn't a full time position because they were all morons that worked on the show. Doesn't look appealing to me at all.

I want to like Happy Endings, but for some reason it just can't keep my attention. Same thing with Parenthood.

The new The Big Bang Theory tonight will keep my attention.

Happy Endings might try to get overly-cute every now and then, but on the whole it's decent.

Pretty much the same here, I really like the cast and want to like the show but I just can't find myself caring either way. I'll watch it if I catch it on but usually not too closely and I don't miss it if I don't watch it.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I find it hard to believe that a large portion of the people commenting actually dislike getting a happy ending...
