Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

just watched "Revolution"

will watch again

its pretty fun

Me too. And me too. The hotel fight scene was awesome.

Has a bit of a Jericho vibe about it, the post-apocalypse civilization, the shady conspiracy group connected by computer, etc.

New season of Game of Thrones is in April, I believe. It's funny, cause I didn't start watching it from the beginning, I caught a marathon of the first three episodes, the middle of I think the third episode, where Robert and Ned are in the grassy field under the tree, talking about the old days while stopped along the King's Road, and I just went "whoa, this is good". Before it aired, the promos just had me expecting another Tudors or Borgias type thing, but this was so much better. So I flipped over to the HBO West channel to catch the whole thing from the beginning, and that first scene, when they go out from the Wall and encounter the White(Wight?) Walkers, and I went "whoa!!!' again, and I was hooked.

It's a fictional TV show, either you buy the premise or you don't. I don't, so I'm not gonna watch.
The thing that got me was the airplanes just falling out of the sky. Even with no power modern airplanes would still glide. They wouldn't be able to maneuver but they would still glide. And I doubt any magnetic pole shift hooey would change that.

But again, if they're going with the "laws of physics changed!!!" assumption, then anything can happen. Perhaps under these new laws of physics, lift doesn't work as we now normally think of it. Like I said, it is a free pass to do anything and be able to explain it away. I can see why some wouldn't like that.

Had a preview weekend of HBO and got an episode of Boardwalk Empire on my DVR that I finally watched. Now I'm quite upset because it was a good show but I don't get the channel and may never see the show again. *sigh*

Exactly. I find it interesting that people are complaining about combustion working, but have no issue with a flash drive in a locket powering a computer 15 years after things went to hell. If everyone just goes with the laws of physics changed thing then it makes some of the other quirky things that were shown make more sense too.

Anyone watch Mob Doc?

I watched it because Zach Gilford was in it. It was...meh. There was nothing else on. I wasn't too impressed so probably won't watch again given that my regular Monday shows are starting this week. It wasn't good enough to warrant finding a way to add to my already crowded schedule.

I downloaded the Revolution pilot from iTunes, it was free. Watched it on my flight last night (love this iPad). I liked it but if I continue I will either have to watch a replay (if NBC reruns on like SyFy - they did that with The Event) or relegate to the non HD TiVo. I watch two other shows at 10pm on Mondays. I think it has potential but it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't make it.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Pretty much every one would except Airbuses...assuming aerodynamics aren't changed, of course.
Do they all have redundant non-fly-by-wire controls? I wasn't sure about this, but it did seem to me that even if the engines stopped working the planes would keep gliding and could be guided into controlled descents. (But I've flown sailplanes so maybe my viewpoint is skewed.)

In real life, yes, there are redundancies in place for fly-by-wire, but I'm not aware of any being non-electrical, so for the purposes of the show...you could not control the descent, which would probably cause a stall...

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Probably should have been Gus instead of Jesse winning that emmy, but Jesse was excellent too. As long as it is Breaking Bad, it's ok.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Steven Moffatt just lost an Emmy to Doyle from the Gilmore Girls for a movie about Sarah Palin. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

So it took for the third episode of Game of Thrones for me to get hooked. Now I'm all caught up and eagerly awaiting the next season. Also, the second season was much more what I anticipated of the show based upon what I had heard about it than what we saw in season 1.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

ABC has officially disappointed me. They call a show "What Would You Do?", and nowhere on that show is there sight of ANYTHING labelled "Pie Pod".

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I really want to enjoy Being: Liverpool, but so far... there's just not enough there.
