New Boardwalk Empire. Sweet.

Scarlet - do I recall correctly you saying you're a fan of Bobby Cannavale? He's new to the cast of that show this season.

Just saw that this will be the last season of Fringe. Probably a good thing. I like the show but it has pretty much run it's course. Can't say I'm too excited about the whole season being in the future, but why would that be any worse than the season in the alternate reality. Still I'll give it a shot and I'm too invested so I have to see how it ends.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I watched the first episode of Revolution last night, and I didn't mind it. There are plot holes galore, but I was able to ignore them. If they go the right direction and don't get tied up in some stupid love story between the eye candy and the soldier kid, it could be ok. It did remind me of Lost, in that there were some twists that need explaining, though there weren't nearly as many, but it is still the first episode.

Might have given away too much, if you ask me. The teaser at the end is pretty major to be coming out after just one episode.

Still, this will be much less of a fiasco than The Event.

I think Lost may have killed all shows like this by the way they ended and everything that wasn't explained. Viewers are going to be more apprehensive about being sucked into a show like this because there may not be a payoff at the end. I have some regret for the time I spent watching Lost.

They need to explain why a usb stick plugged into a little power button locket can create power for things even though its not in contact with them or plugged in to anything. But a potato can no longer light up a light bulb.

This part seemed pretty key :p I think they'll touch on it again.

My guess (not that this has any root in actual science) is that they say that poles changed, and that fundamentally changed the physics of the world in some way. The people with the flash drive things, were part of some research team that saw this coming, and were developing a new technology to use, and discovering the new Laws of Physics (much in the way that Newton and others discovered our laws of Physics). The big change happened sooner than expected, so they only got as far in their research as to get a small scale power source developed, which is the little key chain thing.

Yeah, I can see that. I still liked Lost, but it just got too effed up at the end. They should have had an end date set as soon as they realized that it was a hit, and it should have only gone about 4 seasons. That way they could have had a much cleaner, and easier to follow plot, and had a better plan to get all of the loose ends tied up.

but then they would only have made money for 4 years...

They could have made money for many years if they made that initial fanbase of Lost happy, and ended the series like it should have been ended, and then started another one in its place that already had a built in fanbase.

Electricity is just a librull word for magic.

This show is going to teach us a valuable lesson about taking precious resources for granted and wasting them; mainly Giancarlo Esposito.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Is this the show where the world suddenly wakes up to no power?

I gotta find the season preview issue of TV Guide, I can't keep all these new shows straight. I wasn't gonna watch this new show Vegas until I saw that Sarah Jones was in it.:o

The event that caused the power to go out was actually during the day/evening. Then the show fast forwards 15 years.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

The pilot was free on iTunes. I downloaded it and plan to watch on my flight to LA on Thursday. Will make the call if I add it to my watch list after I've had a chance to see it.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Damon Lindelof (a writer for Lost) even ridicules himself and other writers. I have heard him tell people to skip season three, and he had a great tweet yesterday:

"Lindsay Lohan bagging on Amanda Bynes is like me bagging on the X-Files ending."

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Watching Auction Hunters for the first time in a lonnnng time. Apparently this new girl that is part of the staff.....her only requirements are wear short shorts and tight shirts to prove she will have future lower back problems. Not complaining, mind you, but talk about a cheap selling point.
