Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

"Your mic is on..."

My jaw dropped.

I knew kinda what was coming and it still blew me away.

Did you hear what his defense is gonna be? He was high the whole time and not making any sense.

I have to think the envelope at least gets him for the LA murder.

The other thing is every PD / DA in the country is trying to unload their cold cases on him. They figure out where he was on a certain day, and if anybody disappeared that day, he did it.

If it gives the relatives closure, fine. After all, they can only burn him once.

The same dude that got him off for Galveston is his lead attorney this time, too. Job security.

The Mick has started out perfectly. I'm laughing my *** off right now.

It could be really bad but whatever. I'm giving it a shot.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Surprised no one else chimed in on this. Perhaps I'm the only Benedict fanboy here. ;)

Although rumor has it that
so we won't have the pleasure of seeing him.
I'm looking forward to it, but haven't had a chance to catch up in here. I didn't enjoy S3 as much as the first two, but am still excited.

You have to remember the reason people got the vapors about BC was Sherlock. You should give the first few episodes of S1 a chance. I think it will be impress you; Watson in particular.
Agreed. I really liked the chemistry between Sherlock and Irene Adler as well as with Lestrade. I find Mycroft and Watson quite funny. And the relationship between Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, and Sherlock is really touching.

I'm torn between starting something new or rewatching The West Wing again (I just start listening the West Wing Weekly podcast).

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

By "Jinx" are you guys referring to the Robert Durst series? I haven't checked that out yet.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Just finished S2 of The Man In The High Castle (after re-watching S1). Good plot and good acting but dammm is it sloooooooow. Could have compressed S1 & S2 into one and not miss a thing.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Started rewatching The X-Files from the beginning on Netflix. Waiting to see how long it takes for my wife to be hooked, since she hasn't seen it before.

Also, not sure which of these I've mentioned, but I watched The OA and Season 3 of The Fall on Netflix, and 2 seasons of Bosch on Prime. The OA was pretty good, but I thought it really dropped off in the finale, until that last episode it was great. I'm assuming season 3 of The Fall is the last, and it wasn't great. Yeah, it created some finality to the story, but it seemed just unnecessary. Bosch isn't incredible, but it is entertaining, and definitely kept me interested through 2 seasons. I liked it and recommend it if you like police/investigation TV shows.

Started watching Happy Valley on Netflix, didn't hook me, so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep going with it. Also tried watching Marco Polo, but I only made it 15 minutes before it was obvious that it was hot garbage. Wife and I started Man in the High Castle, so far, like that one, though, it does seem slow like others have mentioned. Will stick with it though.

Not sure what else to watch, have so many options now with Prime, Netflix and HBO Go.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

The ending of The Fall was such a ripoff.

And The X Files is really dated, but still good. I still love the episode that is dedicated to the Cancer Man/Cigarette Smoking Man. Top 5 episode right there. That being said, after Duchovny left, the show sucked.

I love slow. Where did you find it, is it on Netflix?

I really enjoy PKD, and MitHC is one of my favorites.

Yes. I recommend it. If you feel like it lags at times, stick with it, it will reward you. I swear there's more profound psychology to be learned from it than most graduate school programs.

Man in the High Castle is Amazon...I enjoyed the first season but its one of those shows that you feel like is so close to being so much better. Hopefully I'll get around to season 2 shortly.

Isn't the pace of the show meant to give that feeling where it's a long, tedious grind under the boot of an occupier's oppression? I'm about halfway through the second season, and that's the impression I get from it.

ETA: Someone in The Man In The High Castle production team must've worked on the Battlestar Galactica and had a thing for the actors playing the skin job Cylons. I've counted three of them so far.

I'm not sure not having seen it, but have you read the book? It is not exactly "action packed." Like pretty much all of PKD it's internal psychology with plot just as the life support system to hang more internal psychology on.

Being TV, they do have a few action scenes, but they are few and far between. And they're short, not overly choreographed or intricate in many ways at all. It certainly relies upon the mental aspects of suspense.

I can't argue with that theory. The actual time that the show appears to cover is only a few weeks

It's been years since I read the book. Probably more years than some of the people reading this post have been alive. I'll fix that once I finish the Foundation series that you and Joe have prompted me to revisit (again after a multitude of years)

I think you'll find more in it on a second read. I did, as is typical with PKD.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

bbdl mentioned it earlier, so gave it a whirl:

Saw the Amanda Knox doc on Netflix tonight. Nick Pisa is a piece of sh*. Hands the public a match and gasoline and wonders why there is a fire. That being said, I think she is innocent. And Italy's cops are trying to save face when they obviously screwed up. Hey, we all make mistakes, it happens. They just didn't own up.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I remember liking Marco Polo when it first came out. Season 2 is on my list. I can't remember if season 1 took a while to heat up or not.

I should really watch this because I remember thinking at the time, "welp, she's guilty," and really had no reason for it.
