TV: Give Me That Remote!

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

The S4 finale for The Americans? Wow. The doom that loomed as Elizabeth watched Phillip pickup Paige from Stan’s was fantastically chilling and tense. How much did William give away when describing that beautiful woman and the man that’s, “lucky to have her”? How far will Mischa heading to the U.S. to find Philiip mess things up? How the heck are they going to do this for two more seasons? It’s only a matter of time before Stan and Phillip confront each other as rivals – they are chasing the same ghost after all. How many more plotlines can born and die on one show?

And I was thinking of a comment that someone I think here said about the show – that it’s basically a soap opera. I disagree not necessarily on content but on execution and depth of story. There are moments of lust, jealousy, angst, heartache, etc. But unlike most soap operas it’s not arbitrary nor just there because that’s what drams do – it’s always, always tied within at least 2 degrees of why they are there in the first place. Stan, his estranged wife and his son. Martha. Phillip, Elizabeth, their struggles in marriage as well as in raising their kids. Nina. Oleg and the rest in the embassy. Everything they experience, feel, react to, etc. are all tied to the spy game so maybe I’m just fooling myself but feels smarter than your average daytime drama bear.

Every drama is a soap opera, it's a matter of execution. Cheesy? Over the top? Well done? ;)

That being said, the finale...holy crap. LOTS of triggers were pulled on this one.

A.possible explanation for DC gridlock - CBS tonight 10pm et "Brain Dead." Aliens have invaded the minds of the Washington politicos.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Kind of curious that no one (that I've seen) has commented on the new O.J. 30 For 30 five part series.

Personally I thought part one, shown on Saturday night, was terrific.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Yeah, I've heard that the OJ 150 for 150 is pretty great. Well blow the stupid made for tv movie out of the water.

If I didn't see it live back in the day, I might give it a shot. Still tired of all the coverage of the case. That being said, who knows? Maybe one Sunday afternoon or two, when it hits Netflix, I'll check it out.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Started up the final season of The League, with very low expectations (from what I've heard here and elsewhere). There are some really funny moments, but you can tell it has gone downhill since about mid-series.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I'm sick and f%*king tired of OJ to be honest. I don't want to hear or read or watch anything about him.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

For some reason the DVR didn't record the season finale of The Americans. Oh well. Back to finishing Season 2 of Bloodline.

Should be on some sort of free "on-demand" on whatever service you have. If not, it's worth the $3/whatever for the final ep.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

It really is. It's going to get destroyed. It's a network show; it's going WAY too highbrow.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. It's refreshing to see something like that every once in a while.

I'm not paying 3 bucks for a show I've already paid for. Its not on demand. I'll watch it as a rerun at some point.

Your provider doesn't have OnDemand? Really? I'm honestly surprised. Even Comcrap had it on the day after showing it.
