TV: Give Me That Remote!

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Well, that just shortened my Netflix list (it recently came on streaming).

How did an HBO program end up on Netflix? HBO has a contract with Amazon Prime, and only after three years following its original broadcast date.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Every now and again my television will stop transmitting sound to my sound system. It causes me to have to basically perform a reboot of my TV. Sometimes, however, I think it knows what it's doing. Twice now I've left my TV on while doing some chores only to have my TV sound cutout. These last two times it's done this is also the only two times I've walked in to find that 2 Broke Girls came on after the show I had been watching. Maybe I actually got a smart TV without even knowing it!

:D

I do get that with Netflix at times. Have to reload the movie on streaming to get the subtitles going again. It's a minor PITA, but nothing big.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

The budget was just way too high. The music budget alone might've killed it.

It wasnt the budget, it was the underwhelming ratings and not so stellar reviews. If you have a show with Bobby C as the lead and Marty S. behind it plus Terence Winter as showrunner (and then he jumped ship) it should be a critical darling and be on the top of the "must watch" list. At no point did it even come close to a million people watching and its ratings were on par with shows like Deadliest Catch.

To compare it to other HBO shows:

Silicon Valley S3 had 1.71 million viewers, True Detective s2 had 2.6 million viewers, Ballers had 1.69 million viewers and Veep had just under a million. Vinyl never made it past 800k.

The show had tons of potential but it had zero focus or cohesion.

It is sad that Veep is the lowest out of those examples. Veep is probably the all-around best comedy on TV, it is simply great.

Also, if we're talking HBO shows, you can't leave out Thrones, which there are reports of topping 23+million viewers this season, in the US alone. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/23/game-thrones-ratings

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I didnt put Thrones on there cause it is an outlier. (plus I never watch it so I dont care :p )

Veeps ratings are actually quite good for a comedy on a premium station.

But c'mon. Did those other shows have Olivia Wilde's merkin? I don't think so.

VEEP is very very good. I'm glad I decided to just go ahead and watch it even though this is the only season I've seen.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I love Veep. I just watched the finale last night. It's coming back, right???

Yeah, it is. I was worried about that too after the last episode. The article I read said they're coming back for more seasons, and now they're just going to follow Selena in whatever she does, regardless of whether she's Veep, President, Secretary of State, or unemployed. (trying to not give up spoilers)

And that was nice...but it wasnt worth the rest of the yawnworthy crap that was shown. Every other scene was Bobby C. (and his amazing hair) looking like he is either mid snort or right about to cry like a girl while Ray Romano plays Ray Romano with a beard.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Finished the new season of Orange is the New Black, MUCH better than the previous two seasons were. If you had given up on it after last season, I would say give this one a try.

I gave up on it in season 2, and I had loved season 1. What season is the one that just passed? 4?

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Season 2 was horried...the gf and I are trying to watch season 3 cause we heard 4 is good but it is not on the top of this list these days.
