TV: Give Me That Remote!

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I just started watching a series called "You're the Worst," about two and a half episodes into it, and it's been a lot of fun. Basically, a jerk guy and jerk woman start a, well, something. It's kind of a dark romantic comedy of two people who don't want a romance, I suppose. This thing better not be cancelled already and that the writers have enough material to keep it interesting. It's on FX, FXX or FXXXXXXX. Not sure which.

its on FXX, very freaking dark. My wife and I love it but there are certainly some difficult moments.

EDIT: Season 1 was on FX, it got moved to FXX and I think its on Season 3 now? maybe 2nd part of season 2...

I remember seeing promos about it and thinking "this could be really funny."

But never follow through.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

It's been in my queue for a few weeks, but I'm waiting to finish S6 of Shameless and S1 of Narcos.

I got sucked in. Great show.

Just saw a pilot for a show called Speechless about a Stephen Hawking type kid in a wheelchair and his family. Freakin awesome. Loved it. Especially the ability to have a funny show about special needs that also dips into the serious issues. First episode was an obvious one but very well done. Hits close to home for me but I worry it won't last because people may feel guilty laughing at a show like that. Hope it sticks.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

If anyone is watching the new American Horror Story, please post if it's any good. FTR, the only two I enjoyed are the Witch and Freak seasons.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

The newest episode of Mr. Robot killed a lot of momentum imho. Seemed like total filler and regressed to the over-abundance of navel gazing and long pauses (seriously we get it everyone has to think cause bad stuff is happening) that really make the show drag. What had been like 4-5 great episodes in a row seems like has stalled a bit.

I did however like the use of songs from Back to the Future in it at various points :) (Earth Angel, Legend of Davey Crockett, and the other song Marvin Berry plays before getting injured)

South Park debut was fantastic.

Blindspot is the weirdest show. I keep watching hoping for something I like to happen, but it never does.

I watched most of the episode last night, but I'm not sure why. I have never watched before, but it just happened to be on when I switched to Dish from Netflix. I watched about 35 minutes of it, and I'm really not sure what the theme of it is. Best I can come up with is it is like a Hills Have Eyes thing going on, but who knows. And its in an odd faux documentary format.

I just watched the South Park premier on demand. I heard all this news about the new national anthem thing with Kap, but it wasn't in the show. Did they edit it out after the initial airing of the episode?

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I dunno I guess I found it underwhelming. We know the big surprise ending wont hold and I bet if we try we can figure out where all the loose ends are going without much issue. It wasnt bad, but I would say it was pretty average. The only truly great part was when the FBI Strategy is finally explained which makes a lot of that whole storyline make way more sense.

I think the season was too long and things got dragged out a bit at the end which is why I was a bit more blah than most will be. They could have done a 10 episode season and I think it would have flowed top to bottom much better. Judging by the way the ratings dropped early in the season (which I liked, I thought all that build up was great but I also binged it) people seem to agree. If you are going to show a series on TV week to week you cant make it plod along it needs to move and it really didnt. I kind of felt the same way about the end. I bet if you watch the last 3-4 episodes back to back it feels amazing but watching it week to week I was praying it would end and got quite bored.

Next season though should be good if it improves as much as Season 2 did compared to Season 1.

Loved Designated Survivor!! Liked, not loved, This Is Us. And wasn't OMG at the twist at the end. Interesting, but not such a crazy huge twist.
