Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

I will say, it's more family drama than creep (compared to what I expected), but that creep factor...yeah, that's right up my alley. Either way, it's well done so far. And Kate Siegel (Theo in this) is making me become a big fan of hers. She was awesome in "Hush." I hope she gets more roles from here on out.

Fascinating documentary on Netflix called Tricky Dick and the Man in Black, about Nixon’s plan to use Johnny Cash to enhance the Southern Strategy that didn’t play out as planned.

I saw that the other day. It was okay. Thought the flashy description of the movie was a bit overdone compared to the actual substance, but interesting just the same.

I guess as opposed to the confrontation between Cash and Nixon, of which there wasn't much, I found some of the details to be more interesting. The fact that the event basically got obscured by the return of the Apollo 13 astronauts a few hours before and the Kent State shootings two weeks later. The way that both men completely misjudged and misunderstood the other with Nixon assuming Cash would present as the typical "Okie From Muskogee" country singer and Cash assuming that Nixon was looking for an honorable way out of the war and might be receptive to a message stressing the importance of truth and of listening to the younger generation.

I even thought the clip of the protest by one of the Ray Coniff singers a couple of years later was interesting. She unfurls her banner and makes her speech to Nixon, is asked to leave and quietly is escorted from the stage. Can you imagine how that would go down if it happened today?

I just thought it was an interesting, short look at a fairly turbulent time in our history.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

I'm probably about half way through The Haunting of Hill House. Very good so far. I like the actual story being told, about the siblings, and the impacts on their lives. That adds so much to the standard "horror" movie type story. I'm not a real big fan of the horror genre, but I think this one is really well done. Good blend of the suspense and creep factor from the horror genre, and actual interesting plot.

Just finished it tonight. While I expected one thing going into the series, and got something a little different than I bargained for, it was a solid mini-series. It ties up nicely, and the blend between past/present and fake(?)/real in all aspects was done very well.

Like bbdl, not a huge fan of horror in general, and I really liked this.

Just finished Insatiable on Netflix. I think the season can be summed up in one word. "Meh." Don't think I'll watch if it comes back. It was okay but not good enough to bump other shows to make it must watch.

I am 3 episodes into the last season of Crazy Ex-GF...it is BRILLIANT!

Narcos: Mexico

4 eps in. It's awesome. Skipped a lot of time in the 80s, but from what I know, it was nothing really missed; nothing really happened for quite a while; business was unchanged.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Could this mean the RSN's will be available on Prime TV?

I'd be very nervous if I were a mid-term Comcast investor if that were the case. There's a substantial portion of the population that only has cable for sports, especially regional and college sports. If Amazon is able to put up regional sports online, cord-cutting could see a fresh wave. If I could catch the Twins, Gophers, and Wild online, I would be very hard-pressed to continue subscribing to cable.
