TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

A lot of the shows I listed tailed off a bit. Hard to NAIL it all the way through on anything more than 5 or 6 seasons.

Yep. One of the shows I listed (Brotherhood) actually got cancelled without notice after 3 seasons, despite praise. THANKFULLY, the end of the 3rd season really fit as an ending to the series. Totally lucked out on that ending. No loose ends.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Yeah - it's too bad it couldn't get the network support it needed. I found it by accident in S3 and have since gone back to watch 1 and 2.

When it was on TNT, the only commercials I ever saw for it were during episodes of it. To give you an idea of the lack of any semblance of network support.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Anyone else watch the Camping premier on HBO? Thoughts? I'll give it a couple of weeks but so far it's a no. Interesting to see Ione Skye again. Haven't seen her since "Say Anything".

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

I don't know if anyone else in the World still watches Blind Spot besides me but the season premiere this year was all sorts of messed up. Spoiler: Basically went back to the beginning which means nothing has ever really resolved except a few deaths.

So far, the haunting of hill house is excellent

ICYMI, A bunch of Python is now on Netflix. No Grail or Meaning of Life, though. Not yet.

A few different compilations of skits, too. Dunno the difference between them, as I'm not really a fan of Python outside of Grail. A skit here and there (the more famous ones).

I love The Flying Circus, and like The Life of Brian. Those and the bunch of live material they threw on there will keep me busy for a bit.

Fetch the comfy chair!

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

This week’s episode was so bad I considered not coming back. It was generic network TV. If next week is the same thing, I’m pulling the plug.

The reason I won't even give any network show a chance anymore. Even if they have potential, they devolve into generic, cookie cutter, bull**** network TV for the idiot masses.

My wife and I liked the first three episodes, but I feared they were starting a slide into the well worn episodic formula when they showcased a group of people in a way that made me wonder if each were to have their own episode (during episode two). Episode Four was the most obvious neatly contained episode with only hints of the overall theme.

Maybe I'm spoiled by Netflix, but I'd like if the "problem of the week" didn't happen to get neatly wrapped up every episode.

It's slowly becoming the woman who can't act using her vision powers to solve mysteries.

Also I'm pretty sure the life insurance company wouldn't be able to ask for their money back.

When Joss Whedon was making TV, his Buffy and Angel shows were serials, in that there was a full season arc. Every episode built upon the prior until the culmination in the season finale. During that season, however, there were concessions he had to make to the network executives so that each episode had a bad guy or group to overcome, but almost always propelled the good guys towards solving the overall season's story arc.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

House was the same way. Short arc episodes that fit into the overall season arc. House could have been terrible but the first five or so seasons were tremendous. Six and seven were still very good. I haven’t finished eight though. I’ve been drawing it out for a few years haha

Manifest is quickly devolving into garbage

House might be the last network show that was worth watching.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Goliath S2 has been great so far through E6. Hoping the last 2 deliver.

Waiting to start Chance S2.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Halfway through Hill House. Really, really good. Stephen King said it was a work of genius . Unsure if the ending holds up but everything is great so far.

Re: TV: Did you make Barry's List?

Is Hill House shadows and mind tricks? Or is it more slasher? Think: original Halloween vs Friday The 13th.
