Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Futurama starts up again on Comedy Central. :) 10/9 - one-hour premiere.
Never liked that show, don't think I ever laughed during it. For some reason roommates at school always wanted to watch that and Family Guy, I couldn't stand either.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I thought they were pretty solid.

Agreed. I'm glad it's back and that it's as good as it was when it left. That's a pretty tough thing to do.

I don't think I've ever heard somebody say they didn't like the show before. Different tastes, I guess, but Futurama mixes high and low comedy better than just about any TV show ever, so there's a little something for everyone.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Did either of you watch the fourth season? Writing on par with any show on TV. Yes, I'm talking house, dexter, breaking bad.

I watched a couple eps here and there (couldn't tell you what seasons) and I was bored out of my skull.

Watch near the end of season four. Some of the best single episodes of a series I've ever seen.

Specifically, Jurassic Bark, Godfellas, The Devils Hands are Idle Playthings

All are fantastic.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Started "Dead Like Me". Enjoyed the first episode (I tend to like Mandy Patinkin). Will probably watch the next few at work next Friday.

I saw that show on SciFi (no, I'm not going to call it by its fancy new name) but it was edited. :p Excellent show.

That would be a good pick for the 101 Network now that I think of it.

What's the new name?

I forget how I learned about the series, but I ended up getting both seasons on DVD, along with the follow up movie. That's another one of those shows that shouldn't have been canceled when it was. I did some reading, and it received critical acclaim until the very end.

Sidebar on that: How does a network like HBO or Showtime decide to continue or end a series? It's not like they're selling to advertisers.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Sy-fy.

I would suppose when the production costs have grown larger than any perceived value from continuing to broadcast the show.

Thats the reason. Its why Carnivale was canceled. Crazy high production cost that couldnt be justified given the "low" ratings. (Carnivale was freaking awesome by the way) I think Deadwood may have suffered from this as well though I dont think the ratings were bad at all.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Watched Rookie Blue on ABC last night.

I'm embarrassed to say that it is shot in Toronto. Nothing like my first day on the job in TO!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Now if yesterday had been someone's first day on the job in Toronto, that might have been interesting.

Indeed -- as I posted elsewhere, one of those days I wish I was still on the job so I could have "welcomed" the young folks to my city!

You mean Grey's Anatomy-Police Force edition? :)

It was sooooooooooo formulaic. Trying to figure out who they're going to get the brunette cop involved with - the blond, clean cut detective or the scruffy dark haired undervocer cop.

If they want a good cop show, maybe they can talk to TNT and get Southland back to network TV!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Anyone been watching Persons Unknown on NBC?

Not brilliant, but I'll watch until it resolves out. Strikes me as sort of a cross between Lost and The Prisoner. Derivative, for certain.
