TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

To give the benefit of the doubt (regardless of whether or not it's deserved) to the various TV networks out there, all this says is that the people behind Angry Birds are looking into the possibility of turning it into "broadcast content". (Which, to be fair, is what you would expect them to be doing: thinking, "how can we make more money?") It doesn't say that anyone else actually thinks this is even a moderately good idea.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Yeah, while the idea is horrible, I also thought that the idea of a Facebook Movie would be pretty ridiculous when it was first announced. You never know what can come about.

That said I dont much care for the game so the TV show holds no interest for me.

I thought tonights Community was good. The reference to the Cosby Show was great.

Perfect Couples was pretty meh at best. But I did like that they had a Wilco song in the show. (Im a huge Wilco fan)

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I just finished the last episode of the miniseries Pillars of the Earth, and wow, it was extremely well done. It cut out some of what was in the book, but with a book like that, there is no way to get everything to the screen. As it is, the miniseries did an excellent job translating the story to the TV. It was incredible that the people, buildings and towns appeared on the TV just as I had imagined them while reading the book. I don't know if this is a credit to Ken Follett for writing the book with such amazing detail or to the film makers for staying true to the book. I especially like the very end of the last episode, when they showed the completed cathedral, and then zoomed out to show that they were actually showing the real cathedral, in modern times, surrounded by modern buildings. I said it before, after I finished the book, I can't believe that a book centered around the building of a cathedral could be so awesome, but it definitely was. I highly recommend reading the book and watching the miniseries. Oh, Hayley Atwell, who plays Aliena in the miniseries, is smokin' hot.

Wow... first scene of last night's Shameless was basically soft core porn. You get down with your bad self, Emmy Rossum!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Fairly Legal was a nice debut. Definitely had that USA network vibe about it, felt a lot like White Collar, even though they're completely diferent. Probably the character interplay.

Anyone watching Being Human on SyFy? We have the first two episodes DVR-ed, but haven't watched them yet. I'm curious as it seems like a fun premise, but skeptical that SyFy can pull it off (then again, they do have Eureka, which I love).

My roommate and I watched the pilot. It's following the BBC show to the point where I didn't have to pay attention to the plot at all because I'd seen it before. Just different actors and no British accent.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

The new Spartacus: Gods of the Arena picked up right where the last one left off-lots of sweaty men, blood and gore, and nekkid women. Even Lucy Lawless wasted no time in getting her clothes off.

As I had predicted, this one looks to be pretty similar to the last season, only instead of struggling to keep his ludis afloat, Batiatus is struggling to build it into something, while Crixus plays the Spartacus role of slave transformed into king of the ludis. Nice to see some of the old gladiator faces though. Seems to be set only a few years before the first season.

Pretty Little Liars has started up again :) Almost caught up. I can't figure out where some of the storylines are from because of the mid-season hiatus. Maybe UNH-Maine weekend I'll try and watch the whole series.

I am almost caught up too (missed this week) and have a new theory. Well, first I thought it was one of the girls themselves, but then realized there's been things when all of them were there. Now I think maybe it's Melissa. Ian is too obvious (and I don't think Ian killed her, either - if she's even dead).

I cheated and read the wiki article about the books, but I'm so absent-minded that I can't remember who the killer is! :o I haven't watch last week's and am only half way through the previous week. I plan to finish that episode tomorrow between the gym & work. I don't think it's Toby as much as they want us to believe it. I don't think I'd blame the girls (or Lucas) after what she put them through, but I still think it might be Melissa (Ian does seem TOO obvious). I'm hesitant to indict Noel as he's a ******, but not a killer (I don't think).

I'm also a bit annoyed by Mr. Fitz at this point.

yeah, I don't think it's Toby either - they just want us to think it is. Mr. Fitz was more likeable last year. Noel is beyond creepy, and I didn't think it was him, but the Hannah-donut thing made me think about it, since he was there and obviously watching her. I think he's probably just stalking Aria, but he seems like he would do something stupid in a moment of rage, so it's possible he killed Alison, but I don't think he's A (are they the same person? I don't think they are). It's also possible A is more than one person - there are probably a lot of people who didn't like Alison and therefore, her friends. Melissa hates her sister, and probably hated Alison (since Ian was cheating on Melissa with her, and well, she's a *****). She's close enough that she knows everything that's going on, because a lot of the activity seems to center around Spencer's house. How does A IMMEDIATELY know about so many things? That's what originally made me think it was one of the girls.

Mr. Spencer's Dad did note that Ian is "impulsive and passionate", which made me wonder about his status as a red herring.

I'm impressed that ABC Family is airing a show where one of the central characters (and a minority) is gay. (They do lean politically to the right and used to be Pat Robertson's Family Channel before he sold it to Fox and they sold it to Disney/ABC...it still airs the 700 Club several times a day). I'm curious about how they'll continue to handle that storyline.
