TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

So the torrents of mainstream shows will have the viruses, and the less watched shows will are less prone. Do I have that right? it follows logic (Windows vs Apple systems, and Explorer vs Firefox).

Are there separate torrent players or just a patch for Media Player and the like?

Chances are, from what I heard, it's like the Napster/Metallica thing. Superfanboys of Metallica purposely uploaded songs with viruses on them. That was the most glaring example. The super-popular stuff has a greater chance of viruses, because of popularity and anti-bootlegger people. The more obscure stuff, most people don't care enough about, so they don't bother.

And I'm not sure how it all works, I had it set up for me. ShirtlessGuy downloaded utorrent, and then referred me to piratebay. It's like a combo thing, but not, since there are other torrent sites you CAN use if you wish. You download the stuff, and for me it opens up on windows media player via utorrent (which as far as I can tell works like an "unzipping" program). HD is available, also. Watched "Breaking Bad" season 3 and "Californication" season 3 using this method. Mostly I find indie movies or foreign movies on here, due to lack of availability on mainstream sites (Netflix might have them, for example, but I want to see them now, not in 2 days).

Good torrent sites will have feedback on the torrent. I use BitLord and btjunkie, both of which will tell you the "health" of the torrent. But there's a couple of rules still to follow: Never download the torrent when there's only one seed. Always wait until there's a comment on the actual torrent, and open the torrent's available files before saving it to make sure there's not a single file that may be corrupt.

And I know that piratebay has been in legal trouble but somehow they keep finding legal loopholes/appeals/stays, etc. And yes, feedback is important. Now, in my line, I do run into torrents that aren't translated into English, or whatever, but I just chalk that up to the type of movies I download.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Piratebay is ok...go to torrentz.com it is like a search engine for torrentz so you can choose multiple different sites and examples to download from. It searches Piratebay, btjunkie, kickasstorrents and about a dozen more. If you cant find it in that engine you wont find it period.

As for saftey...it is safer than downloading via Napster or any of the file sharing services from what I can tell. It can download way faster too...the other day I was downloading at 1.3mb per second!

Wow...that is a pretty great start to season 4 of Californication :D

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Anyone else watch the new shows that Showtime debuted after Californication? I'm not sure about Episodes, very intrigued by Shameless.

Shameless looked intriguing. I don't have Showtime, so I don't know if I'll make the effort to see it again. Emmy Rossum seems to have developed nicely.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Saw the first two eps of Californication. Wow. And you all were right about the new talent. I'd nominate her for a couple of Golden Globes, but I don't think Californication qualifies.

If this isn't the last season, it's really close. The overall story arc has to be nearing the end, otherwise they risk nuking the fridge/jumping the shark/etc etc etc.

I think they're signed on for 5 seasons.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Does anyone watch Army Wives? Katelyn Pippy, who plays Kim Delaney's character's daughter on the show, is apparently also a pretty good goalie and is coming to Cornell to play hockey this coming fall. Thought that might be an interesting coincidence to anyone who watches the show (and also the most on-topic this thread has ever been).
