TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

So I haven't really had a chance to watch last week's episode. Who the **** were those guys? Cartel?

Whited out:

Those guys were street level thugs. It just got personal for Jesse, who found out about that, since he's sleeping with the girl whose little brother killed Combo, to join those two guys' gang.

gotcha. I've been sort of dealing with my dog and taking her out throughout the episode so I missed a lot of it.

Also, there must be either coyotes or foxes down near the end of our street. Some truly haunting sounds being belted out. For those of you who followed along in the Oil Spill thread on where I live, yeah, I live that far north in the burbs. We have to worry about coyotes and foxes with the dog. That and I had a wild turkey sitting in the tree outside my bedroom window earlier today.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Huh. There is a show called "How Whiskey Made America" on at midnight on DISC. You think I ain't watching that?! :D

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Looking to watch some shows on Netflix this summer and was wondering anyone's opinions on the following since I am about done with Psych and The Tudors, I am going to give Breaking Bad a try

Monk
4400
Life
Boomtown
Third Watch
Sports Night
Sarah Connor Chronicles
Spartacus
Profiler
The Mentalist

For those wondering where these came from they are the TV Series that Netflix recommends I try based on other shows I watch.

"Sports Night" was one of the best shows on TV at the time. The only good thing that came out of it being canceled is that it freed up Aaron Sorkin (and a good deal of the cast :p) for "The West Wing." It's one of those shows that I've seen a hundred times but still would watch above anything on TV today. I can't believe Scarlet doesn't already own the boxed set. :p Definitely worth buying - Streaming is OK, but you should buy the set. Just one word of warning: they had a laugh track for the first few episodes, just try to ignore it because it doesn't last long.

The first half of the 4400 was real good...it sort of wore itself out though as it went along. Once they figured out the main mysteries it got real old real quick.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Wondering if anyone else has been watching Friday Night Lights? Or has everyone else seen it on the Dish Netwrok when it first ran?
Have to say its been a great season and last weeks episode is Emmy worthy!!

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

I re watched all the Homicide episodes last year, had forgotten how much I had abhorred the last season, but Netflix did not have the movie which I would have liked to seen again it seems s if the only way to get a hold of it is by buying the complete box set.

Thanks for all the recommendations I have been wanting to watch Third Watch for a while but only the first 2 seasons are out on dvd and I was waiting for more to be released before watching.

How do you have the time to watch so much? I have box sets of Buffy, The X-Files, West Wing, and all seasons of the Wire that i still haven't got around to watching yet.

Right now, watching Night at the Museum 2 on cable. Amy Adams' butt ..............................................

A guy that graduated from my high school a year before me was the main character in 4400, so I watched some of it, most of the first season. I liked it, but never realized when the second season started and just didn't watch it after that.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

I never got into The Mentalist, but I really like Lie to Me and would recommend that. Sort of similar but the Mentalist guy is basically doing party tricks, while the Lie to Me guy is more science-y.

Plus, Tim Roth is an amazing actor and incredibly badass on the show. I'm not sure why he doesn't get more recognition for it.

Also, the third season starts tonight on Fox, and it's more or less a show that you don't need to start at episode 1 to get the whole thing.

Monk -- wonderfully original at inception, but pretty much one trick. But if you like the trick (I do), it doesn't disappoint. B.

Sports Night -- I'll preface this by saying many people love this show. Personally I thought it was the most mawkish, predictable tripe ever aired. F.

Sarah Connor Chronicles -- according to my wife, the first few episodes looked very promising, but then it crapped out with a Heroes Season 3-level death rattle. D.

Good episode of DW this weekend. I hope the Dream Lord shows up a more times. He kind of reminds me of the Valeyard from the classic series. Smith had some really good funny lines this week. The next episode feature the Silurians and looks promising.

I rarely if ever watch movies, my Netflix queue of 300 titles is probably 50 movies, 25 sports, 75-100 documentaries and 150 tv shows, so I much prefer to watch 2-4 episodes of a TV series rather than a movie. I do 30 miles on my bike in front of the tv when I get home so that basically gives me 90-110 minutes to watch everyday even if I don't watch anything else. Plus in the summer the TV pickings are pretty slim so I will knock down a season or so a week. Plus they cut off my OT at work last year so I have an additional 2 hours a day now, of course it also helps having a 3 mile commute to and from work.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

After hyping it this afternoon, the Lie to Me season premiere was kind of a dud. It was way too straightforward compared to the usual twists and turns the stories have. They're using a new showrunner this year, so hopefully episodes like that don't become the norm.

I like that Comedy Central has started showing episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That's a show I've always wanted to watch, but kind of missed out on it when it started, and didn't really want to start in the middle. Funny stuff though.

Had you actually watched the show, you would realize how grossly inaccurate this statement is.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

I liked the Mentalist better the first time I saw it, when it was called Psych :)

This! Same here.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Any early adopters of the new 3D technology? For those who have the new 3DTVs ESPN will air 16 World Cup games in 3D. They have a channel reserved (106 on DTV) but to start with they'll have limited programming. If this catches on, expect the NFL to pounce on the technology.

Not sure how well this would translate to comedies and dramas though. Do we really need to see HIMYM or Grey's in 3D?

It is excellent, IMHO the best non-AMC/HBO show right now.

I just finished Mad Men season III on DVD yday and I am psyched for Season IV. Our next Netflix-driven TV obsession is Breaking Bad - absolutely a must for anyone who likes dark comedy.

Also, Warren the Ape is returning in a few days. That ought to be a hoot.
